STRUGGLING with looking pregnant a year AFTER I had my baby (Anonymous)

I am now 25 years old. I had my first son in January 2008 when I was 23 years old. I am now 14 months postpartum.

Hey, I had my first baby at 23. A few month before I got pregnant I was 154 pounds. I am quite tall so i was a nice normal size then when i just found out I was pregnant i had put on a bit of weight 180lbs. By 12 weeks ( with morning sickness and everything) I was down to 167lbs and feeling great wasn’t worried about my weight etc. right from the start people thought i was having twins my stomach was HUGE and the rest of me was fairly thin. From 34 weeks i noticed I had put on alot of weight around my face but didn’t think much of it, the rest of me was still normal except for my belly, by this stage HUGE HUGE belly.

Anyhoo I went into labour naturally but ended up having a emergency c section after an hour of pushing as my baby was posterior and quite large. I gave birth to a 9lb 5 oz baby boy he was beautiful. When people came to visit me at hospital towards the end of the first week they started making comments politely about my stomach still quite large and that it hadn’t gone down much. Friends kids started asking me if I had another baby in my stomach and by the 4 week postpartum when I was out shopping a lady asked me ” How long I had to go?” I gave in another month or two and came to the conclusion i had put on soooo much weight during my pregnancy on my stomach and no where else and after the baby was born my stomach kept that pregnant look, it didn’t look like a fat belly it looked like a pregnant one!

The week i gave birth to my son I was 226lbs. I lost a few lbs after the birth but stayed around 204 lbs. for the first 11 months of my sons life, I just couldn’t get motivated. Then I read that if you haven’t lost all your baby weight in the first 10 months you never will.. Rubbish I thought. so I started eating right and just walking 3 times a week from the time my son was 11 1/2 months. By the time my son was 13 months I had lost 28 lbs My son is now 15 months and I am still hovering around that weight and getting ready to push my exercise up a notch to get rid of those extra pounds.

I have a lot of stretch marks, my stomach looks like a prune but hey I’m working on it and feel fantastic with the weight I have lost and so grateful I now look like I have a flabby belly not a pregnant one. lol

Oh also if you notice some scars on my pictures i also had my gallbladder out at around 4 months post.

I hope you all enjoy my photos. I know this website has been fantastic for me in realizing not everyone goes back to a supermodel body after pregnancy.

I am updating from my previous entry here

I am ecstatic to announce the arrival of our son. He arrived vaginally, at home, 10#5oz, 22 1/2 and perfectly healthy. I have had 5 previous csections and have yet to even process the immense healing that has come and will come from this. I love this website and wanted to come here to share my story and God’s glory with all those who are seeking a VBAC of one sort or another, women contemplating UC or UBAC as well as women dealing with body issues. I have that I already seem myself as the most beatuiful woman in the world now. Seriously, I am SOOOO greatful for what my body has done, through all of my pregnancies and labors and birth and surgery. I am overjoyed!

3 Children in 3 years (twins) Coming to terms with the change (Anonymous)

I found out that i was expecting twins at 19 years old and was then a very slim toned girl, the pregnancy was difficult throughout and i was not lucky when it came to stretch marks. They covered my whole stomach, way up past my bellybutton. They were Very thick, severe purple looking marks and it looked like i had flames tatoo’d up my stomach! I cried, my boobs were hanging low with thick deep marks also. I considered surgery, wouldn’t allow anyone to see me naked and felt the constant worry of my top coming up in public. I then went on to have my third child, my son. My son is now 2 and a half and my girls are almost 5. Im a 25 year old woman and i am starting to appreciate my body. I love my curves and my body shape but i still have strong issues with my war wounds. I compare myself to others my age who have no kids and feel sad that i will never look that way again. I wanted to post here though mainly to show that scars do fade, my stretch marks are hardly visible now and i wish i had a photo of how viscious they were initially. Anybody with new stretch marks that is upset by them, you will feel better about them one day. I never thought i would wear a bikini again yet last year i decided that i am going to embrace what i have and be thankfull for the beautiful kids that i have. If stretch marks were money then i paid alot, but my kids were worth every one.

A Dream Come True! (Anonymous)

When I was 21, a senior in a BSN program and 5 months away from marrying my high school sweetheart my doctor told me that I had PCOS and that my chances of having children was slim and unknown. In fact, she said we won’t know if I could have children until I tried, so in April 2008 we decided we were close enough to graduating and the wedding date to start trying. As May rolled around I was so wrapped up in wedding plans and graduation requirements that I didn’t realize that my period was late until I was over two weeks late. I doubted that I could be pregnant, it couldn’t be that easy, but I tested anyway. After three positive pink lines I was still in denial! Two days later I tested again and YUP! still positive and I was overjoyed and terrified all at once. PCOS not only causes infertility issues but also a greater chance of miscarriage so I was afraid to do anything for the first 12 weeks in fear that it would “cause a miscarriage”, which I know isn’t really possible but I was so afraid. Well 12 weeks turned to 30 weeks and then 40 weeks and I had done it! My body had created this amazing baby, nurtured her and kept her safe from harm for 10 months and I cannot be more proud. I was induced two days before my due date but after laboring for over 30 hours the doctor decided it was time for a c-section. Julianna arrived on her due date weighing 7 lbs. 7oz and she was 21 inches long. She is perfect and amazing and everything we could have asked for. My husband is so in love with her and thanks me daily for his special gift. I weighed 143 lbs before becoming pregnant and weighed 163 lbs at 40 weeks. At one week pp I was back to my pre-preg weight and by 9 days pp I weighed less than I did pre-preg. I am EBF and currently weigh 135 lbs. I credit the BF for my weight loss, along with the fact that I was back to my normal exercise routine by two weeks pp. I am thrilled with my pp body, in fact I feel sexier now that I ever did pre-baby. I got a few stretchmarks on my belly during my last week of pregnancy but they are fading fast and I often forget they are there. I am so proud of what my body was able to do, so happy to be a mother and extremely blessed to have such a loving husband and sweet baby girl. My pictures are me at 38 weeks pregnant, 6 weeks pp, two at 10 weeks pp, a close up at my strechmarks and finally me and my princess today.

My other side of pregnancy (Anonymous)

5 weeks post birth. Stretch mark and c-section scar city. As a self portrait artist i really wanted to take a picture of my belly, not only for closure but also to point out some of the unrealistic views women have on what their bodies will be like after having a baby. I know – I was one of them. I’m not sad exactly that my body looks the way it does now – more that i didnt appreciate what it was like before my pregnancy.

More Progress!

Here’s another of my previous entries. It’s been quite a long time since I posted on here, I’ve been working very hard, working out almost every day and eating right. It’s been a slow process but I am now 5 1/2 months postpartum and the difference from my first few entries is VERY noticeable! I’m so excited to be making noticeable progress, I hope it continues! I have noticed, though, that my belly seems to be a little lopsided, I suppose it’s the way the doctor made the incision? In any case, here are a few pictures from today in some my belly is relaxed and in some I am flexing the abdominal muscles that I have worked very hard to strengthen! Hope I can inspire someone. =]

Mom to Twin Boys (Anonymous)

I’m so glad to have found this site. I have five month old beautiful twin boys. I had a very hard time with the pregnancy, and developed HELPP syndrome and delivered at 34 weeks, with a weight gain of 85 lbs! After suffering from post partum depression for the first three months, I finally sought the help I needed. I can’t tell you how much my life has changed. I feel under so much pressure from those around me to be back in my pre pregnancy clothes, but I’m still carrying 35 lbs.I am exercising and trying to eat right, which is really a part of who I was before pregnancy. It gives me great inspiration to hear others stories and struggles instead of focusing on the weight and stretch marks ect. Thanks!

Unexpected C-Section (Anonymous)

I am 34 yrs old, my son, my first and only and here are some pics of mine 40 weeks pregnant and 8 days post partum…. This was my first pregnancy. I was planning for a vaginal birth from the beginning but by week 40 the doc realized that it wont be possible due to cord problems so there i was planning a csection for the following day. i was really scared of the operation and worried about my shape after the op. well, after i got to hold my son it all seemed meaningless. i was happy relaxed and laid back. i spent only one day in bed, which i believe helped the healing of my c-scar. and pregnancy was kind to me. no strech marks (almond oil) and my belly is getting smaller every day… i think that is thanks to breastfeeding… i have a few stretch marks on my breasts but i feel like my son is worth it all. he is so lovable and cute :)

Comfortable in my skin (Southern Mama)

Im a 29 yr old mother of a 2 yr old and a 10 month old. I gained 50 lbs with my first baby who was 9 lbs. With my second baby I gained 70 lbs, geez, she was 8lbs 4oz. Both c-sections. I ate anything and everything in sight when I was pregnant with my babies. I was big, round, and jolly! Im pretty happy with my body. I did lose all the weight easily, but I still have some stretch marks which bother me alot. Mostly on one hip and some light ones on my stomach. Im still breastfeeding, so the breasts that I do have will be gone once I stop. I will miss having full breasts. Seeing all the beautiful pictures and reading all the courageous stories on this site makes me proud to be a mom!
