Learning to Love My Body After 5 C-Sections, Pregnant With #6 – Hopeful VBAC (Stacy)

With my first daughter, conceived at 17, I was not fuller aware of the changes that would take place. I was young, ignorant to nutrition and was raised with horrible eating and activity habits. I gained almost 80 pounds and ended my long labor in a csection. My first daughter is an absolute joy, and in many ways saved my life for sure destruction. I met my husband when she was 3. We conceived about 9 months later. We have created 5 more children together (on in my belly currently), in the past 6 years. My body has undergone quite the toll. Almost continual pregnancies and breastfeeding. I am in awe of what my body is able to handle… I am sure that this most soon come to an end, mostly because I have had 5 csections. I am attempting a VBAC with this pregnancy, and if it goes well, as I have much faith and hope it will, then maybe I will be up for more children, but otherwise I think my body ready to move on to the next stage (whatever that is :) These are some pictures I took. I am currently about 18 weeks pregnant with my 6th and learning a little more each day, each pregnancy, to love and accept my body just the way it is.

Updated here, here and here.

@stacey…any chance you would like to share where you live? I would love to see your ob. Was he/she open to vbac or did you insist? I have always wanted to experience a vaginal birth, but instead have ended up with 5 csections!!! I would love to hear your story if you don’t mind elaborating.

Hi! I was wondering how your vbac went? Any of the other women who had their 6th+ section in the comment thread do well? I have had 5 sections (1998,2002,2003,2005,2008) and am 4 weeks pregnant with #6 (due 5/1/2014) and scared!! There will be approx 5.5 years between my last and this one.  I had previa with #4 and my bladder got a small cut with #5.

I have updated my info… They are linked above. I just sent in a new update as well. I went on to have two unassisted births at home, with no previous vaginal births. Beautiful and blissful.

I had my first at 18 and 3after so have had 4 c sections and pregnant now.Drs don’t want to do it that its 2high risk after 3 but I say if I had 4 just fine then this one should b ok too.I love babies and if they would stay babies and my body could handle more I would have hundreds but I will be 30 this yr and don’t think my body could handle another 1.Also its crazy our bodies look exactly the same and I think u look good but hate mine.Don’t like to look in mirror and don’t wear shorts ever.I love being pregnant and its beautiful bringing some1 into world I just hate my body afterwards and wish I could have the body back I had before kids.

I just had my 3 c sec and was told that my uterus was very thin and he was able to see my daughter through it. But I really want another baby in 2 or 3 years. Does that just mean that on my next pregnancy the incision will be horizontal and not vertical???? Please advise because I really want a boy! lol

I have been a labor and delivery nurse for 11 years and would never advice anyone to have that many c/s, and certainly would not want to be the nurse taking care of a patient wanting to vbac even after 2 c/s, much less 5. It’s just not worth the risk. I have seen women almost die and lose their uterus because the scaring was so bad and the uterine wall was so thin. I literally had to hand squeeze blood into these women to try to save them. I’m sorry to be so honest and don’t mean to scare u, just want u to think about your other beautiful babies. I am a mother of 4 myself and also loved being pregnant, but knew after my last pregnancy that the complications of having another baby were not worth leaving my babies without a mother. Please think this through very carefully and know that your Dr and nurses are telling u these things because we know fr personal experience how dangerous and sad these situations can be. Good luck to u and your precious family <3
