How my life has changed (Anonymous)

Age: 27
Children: 1

I found this site about 3 years ago while having a hard time with my postpartum body.

I had always been thin and weighed about 103 lbs before pregnancy. During my pregnancy I gained about 50 lbs and also developed gestational diabetes. At 33 weeks I developed a rash referred to as PUPPS. It was a horrible itchy rash that spread all over my belly and on my thighs. The only choice I had was steroids or to deliver and it was too early to deliver. My baby’s health was most important to me. I took steroids to control the rash and began noticing that my “small” stretchmarks were becoming longer and wider. i later learned that steriods thin the skin. I am light complected and the marks looked hidesous. My stomach was so huge by 36 weeks. At 36 weeks and 2 days my darling daughter was born. She was healthy and beautiful.
I struggled for so long after that. My stomach stayed large for months and people still acknowledged me as pregnant. I finally got in gear and lost almost all of the pregnancy weight but have been left with the scars from the stretchmarks and a large amount of loose hanging skin. It is so much more apparent when I bend over and just hangs there. My breast also became very large during pregnancy. they also hang now.
I love my daughter so much and she is worth all of it yet I still feel so insecure about my body. I hate not being able to wear a swimsuit or a tighter shirt because of the form of my belly. If these changes came from one pregnancy, I have often worried what another would do to me…Although I long to have another child. I wish there was something i could do to tighten the skin other thean surgery.

Im glad to see a site where Mothers can share stories and support each other. Thank you.

you look great.. there are some exercise that can tighten the muscle but the skin may be it is hard to have something to tighten it back..i have a little issue with my stomache skin too and it got a little better..the belly button is wrinkle though..
but if i do not really look at it it allmost look ok to me..i did consult with the plastic surgery doctor and decided i will do it after i am done having kids..and also have to save some money for that..

may be in time i will think my tummy is ok and do not do the surgery who knows..as far as my husband loves my body and i am happy i think that’s enough..

and you look really beautiful no lie..so enjoy your motherhood and if it really bother you..that is the option..

I think you look perfect! In fact I dont see stretchmarks and your breast look great too. U can easily tone your stomach by doing 10 min abs work out, thats what I did and I my was much more bigger than yours, already in 1 month I got great result. but honestly I think you look pretty skinny:)) Good luck!!!

I think you have a beautiful, curvy body! Which,, being so tiny before, probably feels big to you. I understand,, I was 97lbs before I got pregnant and also developed gestational diabetes. My first post is under First time mom at 31.Getting used to my new curviness was tough,, and I still have my days. BUT! lol embracing a new me and eating healthy and doing fun workouts has really boosted my confidence. I find it amazing that we went through major surgery that produced beautiful lives and we still have the ability and privilege to be active and strong and take care of our children!
With fitness, I know women think if they lift weights heavier than five pounds, that they’ll bulk up. They wont! lol if you feel like you want to tone,, add weights to a workout,, like eight pounds and even work your way to doing biceps, chest and lunges with 15 lbs,, it really burns fat and tones!! you look wonderful and best wishes with motherhood!

I just want tp say your pic is beautiful. You may have more curves than you had before but your body is very beautiful. For someone like me who started at 159lbs befor I got pregnant and gained 40lbs I didnt feel secure in my body until my son was 4months old. I lost all but 3lbs but im still tightening up. Just know are beautiful just the way you are.
