PP: 4 years in September and 15 months

So, I am now 15 months pp with Liam. Wow, this has been a long and hard journey to accept my body. I am finally starting to accept it! Connor would be 4 in September…time flies! I ended my pregnancy with Liam at 177 (I am 5’2″), and I am now 122. I only have 7 pounds before I am pre Connor weight…but I have a lot of toning to do. My husband and I are doing P90X. We do not do it every day, but even the
days we don’t do it, I still work out. I LOVE weight training! I only use 3 and 20 pound hand weights (because that is all I have!). I do all of my arm work with the 3 pound weights, and leg work with the
20 pound weights. I also have a band I use for pull ups! I feel myself getting stronger (although my sweet tooth kills me…I had 4 cookies for breakfast!). I used to cry about my body almost every day. I am shamed I did that…I have been through such harder stuff…but I still cried over my body…how dumb is that? I am still soft, loose, saggy, and stretched…but I love me! I tried on a bikini for the first time in 4 years and liked it! I am not brave enough to wear it yet, but I decided I will wear it on Connor’s 4th
birthday.

Anyway…Liam is doing great! He just started walking about a month ago…and he is now starting to walk more than crawl! I am still nursing him, he refuses any type of cup…any advice on that would be great!

Good luck Mama’s…we are all beautiful. The more we flaunt our bodies in bikinis, the more people will accept it! Let’s try to be brave and do it :)

Hey Shannon, let me start by saying that you look fantastic! I look the way you did when you were 6 months PP (still working on it 18 months after my son was born.) :) Anyway I really wanted to give you advice on your son since you asked about the cup. I started giving my son the sippy cup when he was 6 months old so he could get used to seeing it. I would put water in there since it’s less messy, but you might want to start just introducing it to him after you feed him solid food, just let him play with it and only take it away when he drops it (it means he doesn’t want it anymore, no matter how many times you pick it up and give it back to my son he keeps throwing it on the floor) anyway once he starts drinking the water then give him juice or even milk (or breast milk whichever works for you). Eventually he’ll get the idea. I still give my son the bottle in the morning and at night, but during the day I give him his cup and I’m slowly weaning him off the bottle.

Anyway the sippy cup that works best for me is made by Born Free. I’ve tried every cup under the sun (some of them leak or gave me other problems) so trust me on this one.

Good luck! And you look beautiful!! :D

good for you! You are a beautiful mother. My daughter is 12 months, is still nursing exclusively and won’t take a cup either! I have no advice…lol. I’m sure it will all work out for us.

I think you look amazing! You would totally rock that bikini :)

As for the cup, I would suggest a straw cup with one of those rubber straws. Exclusively breastfed babies seem to take better to them than sippy cups. I think it is because they aren’t used to having to tip a bottle back to drink maybe. Sucking from the straw seems to come pretty naturally given a few times to play with the straw and get used to it. My bf boy (also a Liam :)) picked it up at 7 months. We just give him water In it for now… He is almost 13 months old and still bf.

    Good luck!

Wow! What a difference! You look great!!! :D We’re actually very close in weight and height. Maybe I should be brave enough to step into a swim suit myself. I’m kinda afraid of them! That’s what I love about this site. There’s motivation and inspiration in every post! You look great and 122 is an EXCELLENT weight! :)

Looking good mama! If I recall you had a gloriously large pregnancy belly, and you can’t even tell anymore. Your c-section “shelf” is almost gone too!

I wish I had your self-discipline. My little one is a year old and I haven’t even started working out yet. I finally bought a pilates DVD last week because I figured that’s the only way I’d get anything done (can’t walk outside with the baby when the temperature is over 100 most days) but haven’t started it yet. I also have a sweet tooth but it’s paired with laziness and that’s just bad!

Does Liam take a bottle at all? Have you tried a sippy cup that has a soft rubber spout like a bottle? Or one that doesn’t have a valve at all? We have some from when I was little that aren’t leak proof and my daughter actually prefers those–we just have to supervise or she makes a mess. The leak-proof variety we’ve found that she likes the best are actually those Take and Toss ones from Walmart (or anywhere, I guess). I started her on a cup late (because I usually just nurse her), so for the last few days we’ve been giving her a little bit of water or juice in a cup every day, and she’s gotten noticeably better in just a few days.

Good luck! You look great! Post pictures when you rock that bikini!

I’m not sure if this is the Shannon that posted on my submission or not but i just wanted to say that you are beautiful. I’ve read through all of your stories and they are simply inspiring. They really made me think about what is truly important in life. Here i am bitching about a few wrinkles on my belly when I have two beautiful and healthy baby boys. I should just be thankful for that and not stress over my body so much. Thank you for your story. You are strong and beautiful and so are your little boys!!
