Boy/Girl Twins!

I delivered twins by cesarean section at 37 weeks and 6 days!! I actually worked out my entire pregnancy, barfing and all, and did a step class the day before my water finally broke. They were born weighing 6 1/2 pounds and 6 pounds. I had 12 1/2 pounds of baby in me and I only gained 31 pounds. Ouch!

I think you look beautiful, fantastic, extraordinary! You carried twins to full term AND you did it while keeping in shape. You had a gorgeous pregnant belly, just perfect and you’re proof that motherhood can be as gentle to some as it can be harsh to others.

    Thank you for sharing.

I just want to say, as an athlete who is gearing up to get preg in the next two years, you made me feel so good.

I just wanted to share a story with you: I was lucky enough to travel to the Netherlands recently to study women’s healthcare with a focus on maternity care. I met a wonderful women, mother of two and 7months pregnant, who insisted that my friends and I take the train to meet her at her house while she picked up some snacks. She jump on her bike, put her kids in the kids’ seats, and took off. I can’t tell you how adorable she was coming down the street with a bikefull of kids, snacks and her big belly.

We asked her a million questions about how she does it and she kept laughing that it was just what women did there. She rolled her eyes when we asked her how much she weighed, saying “I don’t know, the doctor doesn’t weigh me – He could tell if I was too fat.” She was so comfortable and relaxed, and healthy.

All this and the Netherlands has a home birth rate of around 75% for normal pregnancies.

It just makes me wonder about what our assumptions are about how pregnancy is supposed to be.

You are an inspiration to me, someone to challenge everyone’s notion about what pregnant women are capable of (with the right support, I am sure!)

Wow! You look amazing! I’m having b/b twins and am 36 weeks now. I’ve only gained 26 pounds – I’m small to beging with 5’2 & 103 lbs.

You gave me hope that I *can* get my body back! I worked out up until 28 weeks, but had pre-term labor scare so I had to quit :( Congrats on your babies!!
