6 Months Post Partum (Anonymous)

Hi everyone. Let me just say that I love this website and it really has helped me a lot. I went 3 weeks over with my 9 1/2 pound daughter. I gained about 35-40 pds. The labor ended up being 91 hours with 7 1/2 hours of pushing. Needless to say it took me a long time to recoup after. 6 months later I still have slight abdominal separation/Diastasis Recti. I’ve lost a lot of inches but not as many pounds as I would like. I am about 15 pounds from my goal. I know I am doing well but my self esteem is really low. In a nutshell I just keep on comparing myself with other women that my husband is attracted to.

91 hours of labor with 7.5 hours of pushing? That is huge! Thats a lot of work! Give yourself a break! You look great, and its only gonna get better. I do the same thing…comparing myself to people I know my husband would be attracted to…just remember…he married you! You gave birth to his child! No one will surpass that :)

7 1/2 Hours of pushing?? Wow, you deserve some sort of medal for that!! I was only pushing for 45 min and i thought I was going to die! As for your body, it takes a lot longer than 6 months for you to go backto ‘normal’…whatever that is. But for 6 months pp, you look great. You went 3 weeks overdue and you don’t even have any saggy skin, I say good for you! As for your hubby, is he telling you he is attracted to these other women? If so , tell him to keep it to himself. You worked hard to bring your baby into this world, and he should be happy you did!

You look great! Hubby is bonkers if he’s checking out others in front of you. Don’t be hard on yourself. Its hard not to compare, but look at your success!

You look GREAT for only six months after having a baby. Remember that it takes TWO YEARS after having a baby to recover fully. Your husband is A FOOL if he is blind to your beauty and strength. I was in labor for twelve hours and pushed for two. I don’t think I could have pushed for 7 and a half! You are AWESOME IN MY EYES!!!

wow – your belly looks just like mine – and its probably because i too had a huge baby girl! 10 pounds and also late but only 10 days & that was too long!!! the bulge does go down – but it takes its time – i too have muscle separation but it is slowly retracting and my daughter is 18 mths. hang in there! we are amazing all of us for having made beautiful healthy babies with our gorgeous bodies! x

Your belly looks like mine too!!! My daughter will be 6 months on Nov 23rd, she was 10 lbs 2 ounces, and I suffered from extreme muscle separation , I’m glad to know that there are others out there, I was beginning to feel deformed…what we have to think about is the beautiful baby we have and that it was so worth it in the end….you look great, Happy Mother’s Day!!! :)

    Hi!

Thank you for posting! I’ve been frustrated, watching these “rails” whom I work with snap right back to a 9 year old girl’s shape, whereas I STILL look pregnant 5 mos. later!

I was one of those “rails” beforehand.

    I, too, had a “super-sized” baby: 10lbs 6 ounces. I wasn’t big either, so no one knew.

I was convinced I’d look like this forever, until I read this posting. Good to know!

By the way, these super skinny girls had babies 6-7 lbs. I’ll bet that makes a difference.

Hi all. This is the original poster. I just wanted to update. The separation did go down more in the following months and the weight came off as I weaned my daughter from nursing (sooner than I wanted to but that’s another story). I am currently 38 weeks and am waiting for our second baby to be born. The separation came back very early on. Because of it this pregnancy has not been fun but totally worth it. I definitely will be updating again with pictures.
