I am 11 months pp tomorrow and cant see any changes since my last update! I have been running 4-5 times a week and trying to get to the gym on a regular basis and just cant get past my weight – 156lbs. Running after a crazy 11 month old should do something as well, but nothing! I also cant seem to get my strech marks to fade anymore. Anyone have any tricks? I was hoping that by the time my son turned a year, I would be back to the weight I was this time ago in 2007. I know thats a far strech but im only 16 lbs off! I would looove to get back to my 140lbs, when I loved everything about myself! My son makes all the strech marks and sagging skin worth it every day when he smiles at me in the mornings, but sometimes you just have those days where you hate your body! Id like to think that I dont look as bad as I could, and I try to tell myself that everyday. “It could be worse, Kayla.” I love looking at this site, and getting strength from all you other beautiful mama’s out there! We, without a doubt, have the hardest, and best job in the world!
Updated here.
Just be Lucky your stomach looks alot better then mine does, Mine looks like its streched out, Im 9 months pp and it seems like I keep loosing it then gaining it then loosing it, Just be thankful you have a cute little boy, Btw Thats a cute picture of Him and you look Fantastic =]
try tanning for the stretch marks, i use the cream stuff as I dont want to age before my time, and for the weight try dancing, like pretend you are britney spears in your bedroom, seriously, it makes you sweat and its easy.
I was in a similar position to you – stuck at about 15-20 lbs above my ideal weight no matter how much I worked out. I thought I was eating healthy — until I joined Weight Watchers!! I logged all my daily food and discovered I was eating way more than I realized. Three full weeks on WW, and voila, I’ve dropped nearly 7 lbs!! So I’d recommend something similar. I joined a “Mommy and Me” meeting, and you can bring your kids, and then you’re with other women in similar positions. The support is really great too. Good luck!
BTW, your waist is really defined! You have a great hourglass!
lol at the above comment! i thought i was the only one who pretended to be britney spears and dance around my room! :)
Kayla, you look great! 16lbs off is really not that bad and you’re right, it could be a LOT worse! Some people gain 80 lbs and don’t lose any of it! Just focus on being a mommy and when you here the negative comments begin in your head, just take a breather and give yourself a break. You’ve done an amazing and wonderful thing carrying a life into this world and ya gotta just take a step back and love on yourself a bit! As for the stretchies, I used Mederma scar gel and I think it helped fade them quicker. I also exfoliate the crap outta my belly! I might be a bit insane but I use the foot scrub (the really abrasive pumice stuff) and a loofah and go at my tummy once a week. Right after I exfoliate the stretchies are really red and raw but once the skin renews itself (day or two) I think they look better! I also use a Vitamin E oil directly after my scrubfest in hopes that it absorbs deeper into the tissue. Hope that helps!
And your boy is so stinking ADORABLE! I love his little teethers :)
Hey Kayla, I think you look beautiful and your son is too cute! I use mederma for scars and it really has helped mine fade. But, also time will help, sometimes it seems like with both that and exerrcising you can plateu and maybe that is what is going on in your case.
I wouldn’t loose weight till I cut junk out of my diet completely. My metabolism has changed sooo much that I have to eat very healthy or I just stay at the same weight even with exercise.
Dont worry you look good, and in time you’ll look even better!
The redness means they are still inflamed. Mine took a year and a half to go silver. What I know now is that I was dealing with a lot of inflammation. It manifested in other ways, too, like carpal tunnel, fatigue, etc. Are you eating a lot of sugar or hydrogenated oils? When you snack, do you often go for refined carbs? You can’t just stop eating certain foods, you have to replace them with good foods. Cutting calories will help you lose weight, but also muscle, as well as cause mood swings and wild shifts in blood sugar levels. When this happens, the lbs may eventually come off, but you may still be in bigger clothes.
I have learned to love food. That is different from loving to eat. Fall in love with God’s bounty. Get plenty of protein. Push your body to lift more weights. A stronger body feels great, looks great, and deals better with inflammation and other ailments better. My 33lb two year old feels light as a feather (ok, I exaggerate a little), but I did have to carry him uphill for a quarter of a mile during a hike recently and I wasn’t even winded when we stopped. Seek health and strength first and the physique you want will follow. By the way, your skin is still in good shape and even though I know you want to grow smaller, you look pretty awesome.
You have an awesome post baby belly! Sounds like you feel in shape and you’re doing healthy things for yourself. I don’t know- mother nature may just have other plans for you. After my first, my body just went the way it wanted to as I, like you, worked to get it back into shape. Only I wasn’t as lucky as you in the hips department- you ended up with cool, earthy, Marilyn hips :)
Hi,
Lovely baby and good shape (you go in really nicely at the waist and have gorgeous skin). However, I can see that you still have some stomach pouching that obviously hasn’t responded to the exercise as well as you wanted. If you’re running and toning then it should help so I wondered if you’d checked for abdominal separation. It’s easy to do (just Google it) and if you’ve got it then it can cause abominal pouching as the weakness in the stomach muscles causes your internal organs to push against the weakened and separated muscle wall and pouch forward. Meaning it doesn’t respond to exercise and efforts to lose weight as you need to do specific exercises (not standard abdominals) to close the gap. It’s just a thought and maybe worth looking into. I still think you look rocking though and I love your attitude. You’ve got a lovely head on that lovely body.
what are you eating?? i know for me that i try and stay away from sugar as much as i can as for most woman sugar will sit on the hips and tummy…so what i do is drink loads of cooled water instead of coke/fizzy drinks. i think you look great, and well down too for getting out and doing some fittness :)
my belly looks the same and I am stuck at 170. I just wear granny panties and move on…you look great, love you curves
I have similar goals! I’ve done a lot of research on weight loss science (not fads – I mean the real biology of it) And the most helpful things I’ve learned is this: diet for weight loss, exercise for health. It is far easier to control your intake than it is to work of calories. For instance, one, small 89 cent McDonalds hamburger with nothing on it is 250 calories. To burn that off, for me, requires 90 minutes on a stationary bike! Several different studies show that people who run actually gain weight because it increases their appetites, and they come home and eat 2x the calories they just burned! Make sure that’s not your trap! It is for me, so I have to really monitor my calories. I run to get in shape, but I know its a tricky thing to exercise and then not eat to make up the calories!! GL – you’re looking great – just figure out what you need to tweak and you’ll get there in no time!
wow for typos – forgive me lol!
switch up your routine. instead of running, try cross training and lifting weights or try a boxing class or something like that. I’m at a plateau as well. I have 15 pounds to lose to be at my pp weight. I gained 65 pounds when pregnant! EEK!! I’ve lost 50 and my DS is almost 10 months old. I have my good days and my bad days. Anyway, thanks for posting. Try doing some other activity and I bet you’ll be losing weight again in no time. GL!
A friend of mine who is a fitness expert and personal trainer once told me (when I had the same question) was this: it is 20% what you do in the gym and 80% of what you put in your mouth! That hit me hard. (Think about how many calories your treadmill says it has burned and how many calories are in just ONE snickers bar! LOL!) She said the gym is to tone and sculpt – which are majorly important when trying to look slimmer, but if there is a layer of fat over all that muscle that you are scuplting, you will never see it! I would say really watch what you eat. Keep it around 1500 (1800 if your are nursing) calories of whole, nutritious food and keep doing the cardio and you will see results INSTANTLY! Expect to drop 1-2 pounds a week (although sometimes it will be a little more) and focus on inches, not pounds, since muscle weights more than fat. Good luck!
Hi! You look great for 11 months PP. I am 2 1/2 years PP after my second child and my tummy looked very much like yours 1 year ago. Now it is smaller but there is major sagging skin which is driving me insane! For weight loss, you should do aerobic activity one day + weight training the next. It worked very well for me. I try to go to the gym daily, and if I can’t, I try to work out at home. Are you watching what you eat? I cut my bread consumption and it seemed to have helped with the bloated looking belly, lol.
You look great!!
Your spine looks way out of aligment you should try going to the chiropractor to get your spine corrected, It helped me to be able to start working my core abdominal muscle, in my situation my back was so out of whack from being pregnant that no matter how many ab exercises I did nothing would happen and then I got my spine back in shape and it’s helped so much. Just a suggestion. You keep the motivation up and you’ll get past your stuck spot. :)
You don’t mention anything about your eating habits. As another poster said, she thought she was eating right until she joined weightwatchers. Part of the problem might be in what you eat, the other part is how you eat it. I don’t know what country you are from, but I have noticed, for example (not saying this is your case) that in the US, people make dinner their heaviest meal, and then they watch TV and go to bed. Breakfast should be the heaviest meal as it gives you energy for the day, and you have all day to process those calories.
You don’t need to diet, just a few basic rules, such as no fried food and cutting down on soda/beer can help a lot. Hard to do with christmas around the corner, lol. Another suggestion would be to change excercise, sometimes our bodies get used to something, and running is very very good, but it can be combined with other excercises meant to tone your body.
Good luck.
PS: You look amazing at 11 months pp.
