A brief update and something EXCITING!

I exist.

I maybe ceased existing for a little while there dealing with heavy anxiety and a little depression on the side. But I exist again. I hope.

School has started so I am ultra busy now but I will do my best to stay up to date here and with our various places on social media (links at the bottom of the page). In the mean time, it would be a huge help to me if you would share your stories! To keep SOAM running I need regular entries posted and coming up with content on my own is difficult while I am also trying to keep up in school – besides the whole point of SOAM is to hear everyone else’s stories, not just mine! So click here and submit your story. Include anything you feel is important – photos, nude or not, your words or just a brief description. You are helping to change the world here.

And now for my news! I am really excited that GrokNation picked up this piece I’ve written about how skin tells your life story. It comes from a decade of listening to women and pondering about life is and what beauty is. I am very proud of the piece and thrilled to be able to share my thoughts with the world. Check it out and pass it on if you like it.

Watch SOAM on Huffington Post Live

I participated in a panel discussion with two SOAM mamas, Autumn (who blogs here) and Tina (who blogs here), today on Huffington Post Live. I have social anxiety issues so stuff like this is always hard for me, but I survived and had a lot of fun, too. It was great getting to talk with Autumn and Tina (we had some time before the show where we hung out in the cyber green room). They are both so easy to talk to! The host, Nancy Redd, was warm and welcoming and seemed to share a lot of SOAM’s values. I’m really interested in checking out her book Body Drama.

You can find the segment here. I hope you watch it and enjoy it!

The Steve Harvey Show is Looking for Moms

I’ve been contacted by the Steve Harvey Show about a show they want to do on self-esteem and the postpartum body. I’m unfamiliar with this show, but they assure me the intentions are good and that they care about mothers and want to help them learn to love themselves again. Here is their message to you:

New Moms!!

We are looking for a new 1st time mom that is having a really hard time dealing with your new postpartum body! Feelings of despair or even disgust. The feeling we have all had after we realize that our figures are seemingly gone forever! Having a hard time looking at your self OR you can’t stop obsessing in the mirror. Not wanting to go outside anymore and its affecting your relationship.

Please tell me about it! We want to help you out of this place and hopefully help others too! Send me an email, photo and contact information and lets see what we can do to help!!
