Twins – the Aftermath (Anonymous)

A bit over 11 months ago I had my twins! I got pregnant the first time I tried. I had a b/g twins on May 17, 2007. Almost a year later and still trying to loose the weight. My body deformed. I am only 24. Young and didn’t know my body will turn this ugly. I never really thought of how a body of a mothers look after giving birth. Now, I know. I lost most of the weight from everywhere else, but most is still on my belly. My mother says I’m not as big as before, but I still feel huge. All my clothes fit nice except my belly. I have to buy 1-2 sizes bigger to fit my belly, yet my pants are big everywhere else! I had a hard time accepting this “body” I was devastated but I started accepting this body that feed and nourished my twins for 38 weeks!

Give your body a chance. It literally carried twice as many kids as ours did! It needs time to bounce back…

Congrats on your little munchkins. They are grateful for any sacrifices your body has endured.

I had twins in Sep ’07. I am 37. I know how you feel.

You’re still young — give yourself some time. Try and get out for some ‘me’ time…. And when you feel like it’s not worth it, check out the babies when they’re sleeping and know that YOU are the MAMA! Those came from YOU! You are beautiful and did, not only something that no man could ever do, but something that very few women do! TWO at ONCE!!!

You have exactly the same body shape as me! I know exactly how you feel.

I only had a single baby but everyone, inlcuding my midwife, was sure I was carrying more than one in there! I carried sooo big!

Your body looks exactly like mine and my twin boys are almost 18 months old.
I get down sometimes when I look at myself in the mirror too but then I try and tell myself what a wonderful job I did carrying my twins to almost 38 weeks (they were born at 37+4)!!

I had twins at the age of 45 it was a shock when I found out I had already had 6 kid with the oldest at the time being 25 and the youngest 2 yes I’m crazy. After having them my body looked bad I thought until I realized I had just given birth to two miracles. When I was 29 weeks I was hit in my car when a lady ran a red light, but I was able to carry them until 33 weeks and ended up having a c-section. So I’m just happy we alive, besides my husband believe it or not is still turned on and that’s really all that counts.

You are not alone. I had my twins five months ago and my stomach looks similar. Thank you for having the cajones to post your picture. It was one of the only pics on the web of a real woman’s body after having twins.

Thank you all so much for posting your stories and photos. Especially you honey. My midsection looks like that too and I’m 26. :) I love that you had the courage and strenth to post your photos. I feel the same way but my fiance, and the father of my 3 beautiful babies (one and one set of twins) is ok with it. He’s still turned on like before. All that matters is that you, your babies and your husband/boyfriend are healthy and happy together :)
You’re beautiful so be strong, and give yourself some time hun.
