I’m 31 years old my daughter is now 4 years old and was born by emergency c section after a 36 hour labour. I put on 42lbs whilst pregnant and lost most of it over a year after giving birth.
I’m so glad to have found this site, as for 4 years I have been beating myself up over the state of my tummy. The skin is sooooo wrinkly and saggy. Fortunately the stretchmarks faded quite quickly but the texture and appearance of the skin is awful. The other mums I know don’t have saggy skin or stretchmarks so this just added to my hatred of my tummy.
This site has made me feel so much better for knowing I’m normal.
i wish i had your tummy, its beautiful! there are alot of women out there right now saying “i wish i looked like her” i would know, i am one of them!
you are so beautiful. stunning actually.
We could be twins, not just the body, but the face! I’d think someone has stolen my pictures!
I’m trying to lose more weight but I think that by no means will that help my saggy tummy.
I have the same tummy like yours after having 2 kids. But looking at you I see how beautiful you are….maybe I should look at myself differently as well?? We are always hard on ourselves, aren’t we?
i think you look great i also had a c-section an my stomach looks much like yours, although i still have weight to lose and gained around 60-60+lbs, but if it still bothers you i think you could tone it doing pilates or something similar you would be amazed how much that makes a difference.
You look great and you also have a beautiful smile!!! That’s the most important thing!!! Congratulations!!! :)
I agree with Sarah. You are very beautiful.
I think your belly looks so soft and lovely :)
Thanks for your kind comments!
Katie have you any pictures on here would like to see my “twin” :-)
I’ve been doing a Billy Blanks DVD for a little while now but maybe I should give Pilates a whirl as CM suggests. Doesn’t help that I’m carrying extra weight and have a muffin top of squidgy fat on my sides. But hey ho…I am determined that next summer I will have that whole abdominal area looking better. I don’t care about stretchmarks they are my battle scars, just be good to get some more tone and definition in my tummy…If possible, just seems like my skin is wrinkled and horrid. My tummy was enormous when I was pregnant, carried a lot of water and had pre eclampsia too..strangers used to laugh at the size of my bump and come up and feel my tummy which is a bit alarming when you are waiting for a bus!!
Hi Anonymous, here’s my post.
https://theshapeofamother.com/blog/diastatis-recti-katie/
My body changed a bit since then, as when I weaned my daugther, I put on additional 10 pounds :) And the pouch is still there. I feel odd, I used to have the best abs and now it’s just a saggy stretchmarked mess…
I did not have the courage to show my face in the pictures, but believe me, we could be twins!
Anyway, I would like to add, strange how it is, although I don’t feel beautiful myself, I really find you stunning in the pictures. So there’s a lot of relativity in what we think about our bodies. We relate to what we had before, instead of being happy with what we have now. I’ll then try to be easier on myself from now on, because I see a nice-looking woman in your pics, and that’s what I should see in the mirror, too :)
wow i think your body looks great, before and after! :-)
Before i had my daughter i was never completely happy with my figure, i have always had big hips/bum, but always a flat tummy. Took some getting used to seeing how my body has changed. Still not confident enough to wear a bikini on holiday, especially when i sit down looks like i’m wearing a rubber ring!
Any way i think you look fantastic and should be proud when you look in the mirror.
what is PUPP?
you’re adorable! your body is very similar to mine and it’s nice to see a post from someone else in her 30’s! thanks for posting and chin up! you’re beautiful. great haircut too!
i think you look fabulous. and i love that you are smiling
you are the cutest!
You’re MORE than just normal. I bet you that you DO know women who have wrinkled, saggy, or imperfect bellies. Why do I know this? Because the only ones who were happy to show you their bellies thought they had a better tummy than yours while the other ones hid with shame and didn’t show you theirs or lied about it. Just my experience. ;)
God i wish i had your body!!! i am 22 yrs old and have 2 kids but i dont look like you by any means how did u do!?
You are perfect!
no worries darling, you look marvelous!
i am 31 yrs old and have 2 boys age 9 and 4 and my belly is so ugly and sagging with stetch marks i tried to exercise and diet but still the skin is still hanging.. can u help me please what i can do??
I am a mother of three, all born by c-sections. My stomach looks horribble! I can not even see my navel anymore. I was wondering is there anything that I could do to reshape my stomach without having to undergo the knife? I am ashamed to get completely undressed in front of my husband!
Hi ladies,
I did lots of walking with my daughter when she was first born and soon lost the extra weight, but regarding the saggy skin their just seems to be no help for it. I had a gigantic bump too and a c section and am pregnant again now (8 weeks) and am not looking forward to what a second pregnancy will do to my tummy.
But at the end of the day you have to work with what you’ve got. Excercise, tummy exercises (I had started doing pilates) and I used Bio oil to fade my stretch marks. I just keep reminding myself that it’s natural for my tummy to look this way and those who are lucky enough to have super flat, smooth, wrinkle and stretch mark free tummies are in the minority. Ladies with tummies that resemble a deflated balloon like me are more common.
I shall post more pictures once my bump starts growing!!
Chin up ladies x x
hi there! just stopping by…. like the webpage you have up…. gorgeous as ever :)… just to tell you ladies a lil info… you can actually get rid of the wrinkly tummy :P and i never beleieved this and always complained but hard work and determination showed me that it was actually working, we should really appreciate ourselves we always look at our flaws… but perfect is impossible and our flaws are what makes us so beauttiful and different from one another :)… i just would like to say women are such strong individuals and we deal with alot… and sacrifice alot but in the end we are stronger and proud of what we sacrificed in certain situations ! i have had 2 children and hated the site of the wrinkly and stretched out skin :(… but i believed in myself and changed my hole life style around ! if you want it youll go get it
I feel much better reading this post and people’s reply. My saggy tummy bothers quite a lot these days. A salon owner tried to persuade me the procedures (costing more than $1,000) work for the wrinkles etc. I just very doubt about it. I am right. It is the normal mark given by the life. Being a mommy is very very happy though you have to bear some imperfection / sacrifice all the time.
Ugh I wish thats all I had I stayed the same all except the boobs and belly exercise helps a litle to tight but my skin still sags and weight loss makes it worse and my boobs went from a double d before pregnancy and three kids later a b
Try tightening lotions, nivea is my favorite. It has helped the appearance of my stomach wrinkles. You are not alone …..
My stomach is worst than that. To think I’m just only 24 years old and I have this awful stomach.
l can now breath after reading my fellow mothers talk about this wrinkled and stretch mark belly,i have always been scared even undressing myself before my relatives beceuse of my ungly belly since i gave birth to twins,it has been really horrible for me to handle, thx to you all
My wife is exactly the same! She is beautiful, and so are you.
I need your website….i have a wrinkle stomach after child birth.
