My stretch marks didn’t appear until the last month and a half of my pregnancy. At first I thought I may have escaped the scars, but slowly but surely they appeared, and then spread. As the 2 sides creeped toward eachother, I had conflicting emotions. On one side, I was amazed and proud of the changes in my body; the other, I was a little sad and disturbed that it was scarred for life. My son is now almost 8 weeks old. I gained 55 lbs during the pregnancy, and have lost between 12-15. I had a healthy pregnancy and an uncomplicated home birth.I have alot to be thankful for, because what my body did was amazing. But I still find myself critisizing my body, because its nothing like it was a year ago. I encourage other women to feel good about themselves, but I’m too hard on myself. I’m trying to make healthy choices.
Updated here.
Thank you so much for your post. I had my son 10 weeks ago and I have been so hard on myself about the weight. I try to look at my son every time I get upset about the weight. Be well.
You look absolutely beautiful!!!!
You have exactly the right attitude!
As far as losing the weight goes, don’t be so hard on yourself only 8 (or even 10 for pp) weeks postpartum.
I have 3 children and it was difficult to think about my body after each and every one of them. Thats why this site is so great. But 8 weeks (or 10) simply isn’t that long in terms of losing the baby weight. Think in years. Seriously. Your muscles will tone up (eventually) but it takes a while. Your tummy will never look the *same* as before though. But who would want to go back to being the same, things are different now, you’re a mom and gladly so!
Its strange that that can happen. The same thing happened to me. I didnt get stretch marks until I was damn near 7 months. I thought I beat them, but in the end they beat me lol
I agree, you look great! Thank you for sharing.
your armpits are hairy?
Well, my son is now almost 15 weeks old and I haven’t really lost any weight, but I haven’t added any either. I have finally found a pair of jeans that fit well and so I’m out of my maternity clothes! Yes!
And yes, my armpits are hairy. I haven’t shaved in 10 years.
hairy armpits rule on chicks!
I don’t shave my pits either. Call me paranoid, I think there is a link between constant shaving, using aluminium deodorants, and breast cancer/alzheimers.
Not that this has anything to do with pregnancy, but your arm pits are beautiful. Why do some people think that they can improve on what God gave them. I wish more women would stop with the razor. The natural body, pregnant or otherwise, is a thing of beauty, including your body.
You look beautiful!! Stretch marks are natural beauty… And to get them from a pregnancy means you earned them! Hairy is natural…. Natural is beautiful! :-)
