It’s Gonna Take Time (Jessy)

Age: 20
Number or Pregnancies and births: 1
How far postpartum: 5 1/2 months

I am 5’10” and was 159 lbs when I found out I was pregnant. I was already unhappy with how much I weighed. During those 41 weeks i had gained a whopping 50 pounds. I had my daugher Jocee Grace Feb. 2nd 2010 via emergency c-section, because she had ingested meconeum while i was in labor. She was in the NICU for the first 72 hours of her life because she couldnt breath on her own, and i wasnt able to hold her until she was 2 days old. It was the worst feeling ever. But the minute i held her and she looked into my eyes, I knew that everything was going to be ok.

Of the 50 lbs i have lost 42. I love my beautiful baby Jocee and she is truly a God-send, but the changes in my body are very hard to deal with. My legs are fatter, my hips are wider, my boobs are saggy and I have stretch marks all over my thighs and lower belly. I have just recently started dieting and exercising and my goal is to weigh 145 by her 1st Birthday, its a long way away but it realistic! I love this website, it helps me realize I’m not alone and I’ll definitely keep updates!

    You look FANTASTIC.
I find it kinda sad that we as women base so much of our “confidence” in a number. This is not only directed at you, but us women in general. I used to do the same thing. But don’t you think it is time we base our health on how we are feeling, health wise, rather than what that stupid dreaded scale says?
With my first son, I gained a lot of weight. I am only 5 feet and started my pregnancy at 130. By the end of my pregnancy I weighed 198. Took 2 1/2 years to lose “most” of the weight.
But with my second child, I had a hard time gaining weight. Many of my appointments I either lost weight, or stayed the same.
Now, 13 months pp, I am 5 feet and 107 lbs. But does that mean I am healthy? No. In fact I have a lot of health issues, whether I am thin or not.
But either way, a number is only a number. Look inside yourself and ask yourself how you feel. Because you look phenominal. And your daughter: breath taking! :)

I think you look really awesome!! Your stomach is so flat. And you have almost lost all of the pregnancy weight so that’s fantastic. I am 5″8 and gained 55 pounds when I was preggy so I know what its like to just feel bigger everywhere! You look awesome though! I did p90x and found it worked awesome to get me into good shape. You can find me on the Sept 2009 archive under update-3 months after delivering a baby boy.

    Take Care!

Your body is so similar to mine (although your tummy is not saggy at all… mine’s like old woman saggy).

I don’t think you need to lose any weight, you look amazing. You have a nice shape to your body. No worries!
