When I wrote “Mirror, Mirror on the wall….Who’s the Most Damaged Mother of them All?” last year I thought that was the end of my journey in accepting my body…little did I know it was just the beginning! I submitted my article to SOAM in February and it was posted on March 9th, a hard day for our family as it’s the anniversary of the death of our niece and nephew, but all the beautiful comments to the article made the day much brighter, thank you!
Over the past few months I’ve been shocked over and over by…how I really do NOT hate my body anymore! It’s a hard feeling to get used to that’s for sure. And I think that loving who you are makes it easier to let go and stick with a healthier lifestyle (for me anyways, I know all mothers are different)…because you know you deserve to treat yourself better. Since I wasn’t depressed about my body I stopped binge eating and had more energy to work out. I even started going to the gym, something I had been too embarrassed to do before, which brought on a whole new appreciation of my body as I watched it change shape once again. My gym is closed for the summer so for the next few months I am attempting to do P90X and I’m blogging about it so that other mothers can follow along and see if it’s the right program for them. The neat thing is that my hubby is doing it with me! 2 years ago I would have never been comfortable enough with my body to huff and puff half naked in front of him but now there is no embarrassment and we are having so much fun working out each night!
This site is amazing and I love how it’s changing so many minds about beauty. A year ago I would have died of embarrassment if anyone had saw one of my stretchmarks….and now I wear a sports bra while I work out and hope that everyone sees them so that they will start to think of them as normal on a mother!
Age: 29
Births: Three
Children: 12, 10, 4

5. I love this photo because I think that the stretchmark that is showing is so beautiful.
You look awesome! Congratulations!
You are doing great! That’s what it’s all about…loving your body, enjoying who you are and do things you enjoy to keep yourself active..and if you happen to do it with your hubby the better!!!
You look amazing! I hope that one day I will be as comfortable “wearing” my stretch marks as you are!
Love the stretch mark photo, too! Beautiful!
Congrats! You look great. Thank you so much for posting this. Before coming to this site I spent 30 minutes reading about p90x which I plan to start next week…..I didn’t expect the first post on this board to be about p90x. I’m glad it worked for you and now I am super pumped about getting started on the program!
Congrats, you look amazing!!
Congrats on taking care of yourself! I believe it helps us be better mothers and reflect an image of healthy self esteem to our children. I did P90 also, and I posted on SOAM. Your journey will encourage someone to not be afraid to prioritize their own fitness, and not see it as taking away from their family. It is really a gift to your family to give them a person who is mentally and physically fit to be an active part of their lives.
I am a mother of three children with lots of streatch marks and a saggy lower belly that I got during my first pregnecy. Before this sight I was on youtube looking a results from other women using p90x and Im really excited to start. I hope to lose most of my saggy skin.
Thank you for posting this!
This is awesome, I am only 13 weeks pregnant but as soon as I can start to exercise again I was playing on doing p90X…please keep up with the updates! This is wonderful.
Did you do the lean or classic p90x program? Im trying to decide which one is the the one for me. Im a mom of 3 and just need to lose this last 20 lbs and tone up my 2/x c-section tummy. Thank you
btw…you look amazing! Good Job on getting to where makes you happy! Motivation gets us started, Desire keeps us going :)
