Mommies Are Beautiful! (Anonymous)

My daughter is 5 and a half months old. About 7 weeks after she was born I decided I was going to join a weight loss program and get “back in shape”. I had gained 35 lbs during my pregnancy and lost about 20 the first 2 weeks after giving birth, then nothing. I started cutting calories and exercising, while trying to learn to be a mom to an almost 2 month old. My weight did not budge much at all and I became depressed and hated my body. I had it in my head that I would have lost all of my baby weight by 6 weeks post partum. I only had images of celebrities to compare myself to and I felt like a fat failure. After doing some research I realized, I AM NORMAL. I would never want to spend all day in a gym instead of with my baby just to try to “get my body back”. I have a new body now that carried my precious daughter safely for 9 months, delivered her, and has helped me to nurse her exclusively for almost 6 months. I would never trade that for flat abs! Sites like this are invaluable to women. Instead of beating ourselves up for not having the bodies we once had, we should be spending every second enjoying the new little lives we helped to create. When I finally stopped dieting and just started enjoying life and time with my baby, the weight slowly began to come off. Even if I never lose those last 5 lbs and my belly is always a little stretched out, its all worth it because I have experienced the joy of being a mother. You look great, and your little one looks like she loves her bumble seat (and her toes!)

Your body is so beautiful! Your curves are so proportioned. From personal experience, obsessing over your body instead of obsessing over your baby can make you more depressed than anything. I missed my son’s entire first 6 months obsessing over my body. Now I would give ANYTHING to remember what his first coos sounded like and remember special moments with him. Dont let it slip by. You have your whole life to get your body back.

You look awesome!!! I thought this was going to be more of a “I lost all of this weight by working out” story! I love your story! It’s so true. I’d much rather spend my days with a few extra pounds and WITH my daughter than five or ten pounds lighter and WITHOUT my daughter. Your little girl is precious and beautiful. My daughter is turning 1 in two weeks. You really cannot get these months back! It goes too fast! It only feels like yesterday that I held her in my arms for the first time, exhausted and elated. Don’t let these days get away from you because your body has changed. Every mother’s body has changed–whether they admit it or not! God bless you! Thank you for your post!!!

that little bit of weight your going on about isn’t even much at all, hehe jeez girl you look fantastic, no stretch marks and all. Yeah it was a good idea to Stop worrying about what hollywood is all about and look at your body, then look at your baby and think to yourself she wouldnt be here if my body didn’t do what it is meant to do. Your body is beautiful, look what it created. No reason to hate it. No reason at all despite all the pressure modern women receive from these images that have been air brushed and cut and bloody pasted and everything else to make normal so called “celebrity” women look morphed and unrealistic. And by the way they have like 2 personal trainers, cooks, dietitians and you name it they probably have it. Anyway enough said here you look amazing. And you should know that. Your Daughter. Well she is one of the cutest babies i have ever seen.

Your post partum picture is no different than your pre-baby pic. I had to re-read the post a couple of times to make sure i had it right! You have a great attitude. I also joined a weight loss program after my baby. I lost 30 lbs. Now I have to say, i felt a lot better about myself once the weight was gone….but my body still doesn’t look the same. I spent too much time counting calories when I could have been relaxing with my baby. My advice to new moms is to relax and enjoy your baby. THe weight will come off in time, but your baby grows so quickly…

You look HOT!! Your curves are gorgeous. I kept looking at the Hollywood moms too right after birth, and had to remind myself – that’s their JOB. If they didn’t get back in shape, they’d stop making money.

THANK GOD it’s not my job!! I’d much rather eat chocolate cake here and there (with carrots every now and again of course) and play with my girls, belly jiggle and all.

Ahahahah! i just laughed so hard at that post. Belly jiggle and all. Thats the perfect way of putting it. Isnt Belly flab just the greatest, think about how lovely and soft you remember your mother to be.. pressing your head against her soft “flabby” stomach- Thats how i remember my mother. Now modern women, wouldn’t you prefer it for your children to remember you as a soft warm cushion like memory, rather than something more like their father? hard and bony..?

hahahaha this is too funny!!!! hard and boney!!! hey,my father was over weight!! there was nothing boney about him!lol.. but yeah thats true, i remember my mom being soft, warm and loving. and thats how i want my child to see me.

haha – My mom was totally the *HOT* mom, old teachers tell me they couldn’t concentrate in parent-teacher meetings and boyfriends have said…more than I want to share, and it was from her I got my HUGE thighs! I remember laying in her lap and thinking they were the best thing ever.
She never wore flares or anything, tapered jeans that showed them off. She never whined about them, just shurgged and said they were good for playing tennis.
