Pregnancies and births: 1
1 month old son Gabriel
Hello SOAM. This is my first entry. My name is Heather and I am 4 weeks pp.
All in all I had a very smooth ride with my pregnancy and labor and delivery. I was in early labor for 3 days. The night before I had my son I went to the hospital because I was SURE I was in labor. They basically told me I was nuts and sent me packin lol. Well after a horrible night of powerful back contractions I went to my OB appt the next morning, only to be told I actually WAS in labor and I was 5cm dialated. I knew it lol. From the time I was admitted to birth was 5hrs. I pushed for 10 minutes and my son was born.
I have never had a perfect body. I was never super thin and I have always had issues with my weight and stretch marks due to growing quickly when I was younger. But I never expected this. My husband tells me I am beautiful everyday, but how can he find this beautiful? If I don’t think it is how can he? I suppose I might be being a little dramatic but I am very unhappy with my body now.I am not trying to be unrealistic and I know in time it will get better, after all I am only a month pp. I just hope it does. I am currently 12lbs away from my pre pregnancy weight, which is something that made me smile today :). I just hope it all gets better. At least I gained a wonderful son out of this ;)
It’s only been 4 weeks darling!! And I think you look great!
It’s always hard to see our own beauty, especially when our bodies change so drastically, and it seems like it has happened over night. But our loving husbands, they have had the oppertunity to see it slowly change. Therfore, when they say it is beautiful, that’s because it is!
Give yourself another couple months and you will look even better!
You look fantastic! And I agree with Bryana – the power of perspective! You’re only four months postpartum, my dear! At around that time (four months pp) I went and threw out all of my old clothes, figuring I would never get back into them and I shouldn’t be kidding myself – low and behind I’m back in my same size and boy I miss some of those outfits and bras that I threw out! Hang in there! When you’re 18 months postpartum, take another picture and you’ll be amazed. It takes a little bit of time, true, and patience, for sure. Just hang in there! :D And what a beautiful little baby you have!!!
You look great!!! Give it a bit of time you are only going to look better and better. Only 12lbs to go at 4 weeks is awesome, well done! I’ve still got 20 to go at 3 months, but thats a marked improvement on my 1st pregnancy!! I found it really helpful to take plenty of photos along the way, you don’t notice the gradual change and the photos help you see how much you’ve changed :)
Your little boy is adorable too!!!!
Just keep saying it…you’re only one month postpartum. At this point your uterus still isn’t quite back to it’s normal size yet! You already look pretty good, but I think that if you give it a few more months you can update that to “fantastic”. And you have awesome breasts!
Oh yeah, and the baby’s pretty darn cute, too :)
your only four weeks postpartum. cut yourself some slack. i think you look beautiful.
I think you look great for 4 weeks! And Gabriel IS an absolute angel!! Like you said, it has only been a month. Your uterus still needs to contract back to it’s normal size. Your belly isn’t even saggy, girl! It looks to me like your muscles and skin will firm up nicely. Just try to eat and drink well, get as much rest as you can, keep your skin moisturized and exfoliated and make sure you get some exercise every once in a while(I know! Much easier said than done!). Wow! I can’t believe you are only 12 lbs away at 1 month!
love the post, your baby is ADORABLE!
You do look great for four weeks. Having a child does take its toll on your body but the body has an amazing capacity to return to ‘normal’. I’ve only just found this site and have to say that it has been on my mind since I found it last evening. It is SO moving. Pregnant with number five (19 weeks) and my body image issues are surfacing already and I can’t ever imagine being brave enough to post on here. I am amazed by you all and deeply touched.
TY all so much :) I really appreciate all the nice comments. Losing that 12lbs has been tough and I havent lost a bit. But Im working on it. Gabe is 2 mths now and amazing. I love my lil family and I will repost at 3 mths Bless you all! <3
