Not Feeling so Confidant (Shaylene)

I wasn’t ever the thinest person around. Im 5’2 and I was 160 lbs before I had given birth to my son. I gain 29 Lbs during the pregnancy and gained a few stretch marks which I am not bothered by. I have never been confident in the way I look. And lately i’ve been getting worse. I had my son April 17, 2009 and I thought I would be fine with my body afterwards seeing how it had been my childs life source, and it had created my son. But I just don’t feel good in my body. I am now 3 months Post. And am currentlyat 159 lbs. My fiance tells me im sexy and look the best I have ever looked, but I just don’t feel it myself. I just don’t know what to do so I feel good about myself.. Im confused. Im 19 years old and I feel I should look alot better than I do right now.

I think you look great! Especially being only 3 months p.p. One way that may help you feel better is excercising. Just putting your darling little Aspen in the stroller and walking, especially with a friend or your finance’ can do wonders! It’ll kick in those endorphins and help you stengthen your body, which will help you mentally and physically.

Good luck and congratulations on your beautiful baby! Also, how great to have such a loving and supportive fiance’. Believe him when he says you look beautiful!

You actually carry your weight really well, for being 5’2. I wouldn’t have put you higher than 135 lbs. I know it’s so hard to see ourselves clearly, but you really do have a pretty body. =)

You look fantastic, 3 months pp!?! Your baby belly was so cute and round and your son is ADORABLE! Keep your head up, it can take a year or so for everything to go back, you really do look great though, dont be so hard on yourself, we are our own worst critic.

Oh my goodness your baby is adorable!! Are you sure you listed your height/weight right? Astonishing. You look incredible to me. I am 5’1″ and weigh 130 and you look better than me. Keep your chin up young mama. You are doing great.

What a change in 3 months already. But it took you 9 months to grow that gorgeous belly, it will take awhile to recover.
An even better way to exercise than pushing a stroller is to babywear. You body thinks you’re that new combined weight and you’ll burn more calories. It also encourages much better core strength than stroller pushing. You have to stand tall to babywear, and with strollers moms tend to lean over and push with their arms and stick their bums out. I wore my 3rd babe almost all the time (for convinience) and I got back into shape so quickly. If you’re going to stroller walk, keep the bum tucked in, back straight, abs tucked in, and stand tall. Be proud!

oh my goodness, your son is the CUTEST!!! and your baby belly looks just like mine :) ‘

i have a 5 months old, what can i say… you can be the same weight as before but your body’s landscape has changed. try to enjoy the new softness of your curves – they’re lovely – it sounds like your fiance does!

i agree with the first poster, get out of the house and out of your head with some exercise. pop your baby in his stroller or sling and go for a walk every day and you will feel better. eating well helps too – i always feel better if i’ve had a healthy lunch or some yogurt & fruit for a snack (a cookie and a cup of tea here and there also makes a girl feel nice :) )

you’re beautiful. enjoy your sweet baby!

    Hey!

Okay, your son so so so cute!!! Also, I think you are looking absolutely fabulous!! You only had a baby 3 months ago girl! For me personally, I didn’t start to feel like myself again until about 6 months post partum. Pregnancy takes a toll on our bodies not only physically, but mentally and emotionally too. I think the main thing is to keep good care of ourselves by eating good and exercising..even if it’s just a walk to clear our heads and get fresh air. You look great and in a few more montns I’m sure you will feel better. :)

Oh and I also agree with Tracey. “Wearing” your baby is a great workout! I started strapping my boy to me at 4 weeks post partum to go for walks and got back into my regular jeans pretty quick. *With good eating to of course*. The babies like going outside too.

i am taller than you but had a pretty similar body shape pp. im 28 and i have 2 children aged 3 and 1yrs. i have to say it took a year with healthy eating and not dieting, and as much excersise as i could fit in (not much with 2) to get back to my pre-preg weight.

sometimes the slower the weight loss the more likely you will keep it off. you look wonderful and your baby is beautiful! if your feeling down read some more posts on here, they seem to be very lifting and empowering and you realise your not the only one!

I think you have an absolutely beautiful shape both before and after, and have no reason to feel insecure.

But as someone who is battling my own pregnancy body issues, I don’t know if there is anything more I or anyone can say to truly affirm your beauty and worth. It’s beginning to occur to me that it has to come from within.

How can we help you internalize your beauty and worth?

When i saw your pics i was amazed and almost cried! I have and identical body twin! :)

I am 5′ 2″ 150 lbs but no one believes me, sometimes i dont. I know what its like for that confidence to slowly diminish, ur not alone.

PS i had my baby April 3rd :))

OK, you have to really understand when I say that I am 160 lbs, 5″3, and think I look awful, but looking at your pics I think your body is AMAZING. If I look like this now, I love myself. I think we just have distorted body images. OMG I’m so happy to see what it looks like on someone else who’s short :). Your pics are sooo nice and they made my night! You look GREAT I promise!!!!!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with your tummy at all..there really really isn’t! It can only go uphill too! I am 20 months postpartum and went through a strange period of thinking my postpregnancy belly and boobs were alot NICER than before,(hormones?! Birth-induced high maybe…) then hating them..and now, finidng ways to improve them, at least to the best they can be..
