I’m back in town again and will get to putting up all the submissions I have – there are lots, so keep checking in!
For now, though, here’s an important video from Dove’s Campaign for Real Beauty. It focuses on the face, not the body shape, but you get the idea and I don’t think there’s a real line to draw when it comes to how we feel about our physical bodies – we pick ourselves apart no matter what part it is.
And, it might be old news to a lot of you, but I found this article about Victoria Beckham very interesting and I wish more celebrities would be so honest.
WOW. All I can say is that video is intense. Thank you.
I saw that video on Good Morning America about a week ago and literally stood there with tears rolling down my face as I watched it. I already knew they airbrush models, but to actually watch the process and realize that women everywhere are trying to live up to these images … it was very powerful. I applaud Dove for the stance they have taken regarding what real beauty is.
Thank you so much for sharing, hopefully people will come to understand beauty is only skin deep!:)
Wow..honestly all I can get out of my mouth is Wow!..Makes me not feel so bad if I happen to get a zit once in awhile…
Really? You thought the Victoria Beckham interview was positive? I admit that I found it refreshing to hear a celebrity talk honestly about her body, but I was disappointed by her judgement of her body as “awful” according to the current standard of beauty.P.S. I love love LOVE what Dove has done over the past few years to educate the public on the subject of beauty.
No, you are right in that it’s sad she finds her body “awful” and I do wish she felt more positively about herself. HOWEVER, it’s her reality, and she was not hiding the fact that her body is not perfect and I can totally respect that. Many women who have posted here on this site are still not in total acceptance of their bodies – I sure am not! So I felt that the article fit right in here. She was being real and being totally honest when it would have been just as easy to not have said anything at all. :)
The Dove video is amazing. And I have a newfound respect for Victoria! I wish more celebrities would be so honest.
Great video…Thanks for sharing!
