20 years old 9 week PP (Anonymous)

Hi I am 20 years old and I gave birth 9 weeks ago. My baby boy was 7lbs 2 oz and I’m not sure if I have a prolapse or not but it is making me very insecure and hsvent had sex yet because of it. I did attach some pictures because I would like to know if it looks “normal” or if it does look like a prolapse. I really want to enjoy my baby but I can’t stop thinking about it :( I’m sorry the pictures look really nasty I tore on the sides.

You look great from what I can see in the pictures. After I had my 3rd daughter (I am now a year p.p.), I felt like I had a prolapse and looked very similar to what you look like in that area. But, as time went on and after many Dr appointments I eventually healed to the way I was before. I started noticing many changes by the time my daughter was 6 months old. Even though child birth is a natural human thing, it is a traumatic experience for your body. Just give your body some time to heal, it’s only been 9 weeks. Ask your Dr if you are still unsure. It’s never fun when you feel self conscious during sex, but I’m sure that’s the last thing your partner is thinking about. Congratulations on your new little one

I shared similar concerns after my last baby, and the GP was able to confirm my suspicions.
A referral to a gynaecologist and I now have 3 months of gynae physio before they consider surgical repair of a prolapsed anterior vaginal wall. Apparently the physio can help with strengthening to avoid surgery, painful intercourse, bladder and bowel issues.
It is worth investigating sooner rather than later, and definitely not something you should just put up with.
You are very brave to have shared. …

I look very similar to you down there. I even felt pressure for a long time (I felt like I had to do a constant kegal for months after birth because it felt like something was falling out). I thought it was a major prolapse. I asked at my 6 week apt and he looked and said all looked normal, but during my internal exam he said I had a very very minor prolapse (something he would not have noticed had I not said anything). I guess that the reason it looked different was not the prolapse, it was that my urethra shifted! Mine looks exactly like you! I would ask your OBGYN to check you…it’s a quick exam. I wouldn’t be worried though. You look great.

You look wonderful! As the others have mentioned it is worth getting checked out if you are unsure? I’m 8 weeks PP and look very similar. I had a third degree tear that has reopened a few times but finally looks like it is getting back to my new normal. I have physio in 2 weeks and another check up plus Pap smear. I’ve been recommend no sex until 10 weeks. Just get a check up to be on the safe side but you look great and thank you for sharing x
