twin tummy 5 weeks PP (Anonymous)

this is my tummy after having my twins 5 weeks ago, they were 5pounds4oz and 5pounds6oz and healthy as could be, i have 4 children all born via c-section this was my third pregnancy and by far the hardest, i was on bedrest for most of it and my body just ached all the time i handled it ok till the strech marks started to appear 2 weeks before i delivered, as superfical as it sounds i was devestated i cried every day i presumed after not getting a single one with my first 2 pregnancies i would escape them again well i wasnt so lucky this time ,i got them on my hips and a few on my belly i hate that they are permanant and the only way they will be gone is surgery i try not to focus on them and the cream im using seems to be fading them somewhat, how do a few marks cause someone who had so much confidence to become someone who is now too embarrased to be naked infront of her husband ,i think the media plays a big part in women feeling bad about them selves after having babies the media are constantly showing us celeb mums who seem to walk out of hospital looking like they were never pregnant and unfortunatly women including myself but into it all, the pressure to bounce back in what seems like 2 mins after giving birth is crazy thats why this site is great it shows real women strech marks and all!!!

I was about to ask if this was your ‘before’ sot until I noticed the faint little C-Sec scar. You look awesome!!!

Are you kidding? What stretch marks?? Dont be silly your only 5 weeks post partum after twins. Consider yourself really lucky to have a body that obviously looks as though it bounces back much faster than the average woman. and surgery doesnt cure stretch marks. Its time.

Maybe you’re confidence was all related to your outer beauty instead of who you are on the inside and that’s why you don’t feel confident anymore. Stop looking in the mirror and look on the inside. You look great and you should feel great too.

WOW, you look great. I had my twins a year ago and I am still a saggy mess. I am amazed at how small your scar is, for having twins – mine goes literally hip to hip! Enjoy those babies mama, it doesn’t last long and with twins it goes 2x as fast. Hugs to you.

Stretchmarks only have as much power as you give them to make you feel bad.

Allowing stretchmarks to make you feel bad about yourself makes about as much sense as being ashamed and mortified over the occasional pimple.

Seriously, more women have them than not … even celebrities. You think someone as small as Victoria Beckham (for example) could have popped out all her kids without a stretchmark? No way! The only difference is … we don’t see them because celebrity images are manipulated.

True, some people don’t get them … but they are in the definite minority.

It begs the question … if most of us have them, then why are we so terrified of them? It doesn’t make rational sense.

That would only make sense if we woke up every morning also horrified over the fact that we don’t have a certain hair colour or our eyes aren’t quite a certain shade of blue. Know what I mean?

(Can you tell I’m fed up with people’s obssession over stretch marks?).

Stretchmarks don’t stop you from breathing – they don’t stop you from loving – they don’t stop you from being who you were meant to be or anything else (unless you allow them to).

I’ve had them all my life – got more now since I’ve been pregnant (and I’ve never even been overweight). I call my pregnancy ones Michaela-marks (my daughter’s name) because that’s what they are. Without them she wouldn’t have been able to grow into the healthy baby she is.

I think that all of us just need to change our perspective over them. They are as common as white bread or sunshine in July … so why waste time freaking out over them?

Instead we should look at them for what they are. Marks. That’s it. Ohhh, scary! (not).

There are people out there who are being tortured and physically maimed just for having a certain belief system or being born in the wrong place a the wrong time – and we in the West are sitting here in waves of fear and trepidation over the fact that our bodies had to stretch a little to accommodate some beautiful healthy little children.

We all just need to change our perspective and not allow someone else to tell us how we should look or not look. We look the way we look. If we’re living our lives with integrity and love – what difference does what we look like really make?

I actually hope this helps you – sorry for the truculent tone. I’m just tired of us women being made to feel bad about ourselves all the time for how we look. It’s old already … boring. We need to stop listening to it and just get on with our lives.

God bless you and your babies!

Wow, I wish I looked half as good as you! I had a little girl six weeks ago (my third child) and although I’m back to my pre-pregnancy weight, I can hardly stand to look at my saggy, strech mark-covered body. You look great!

    Nana,

I also had twins and have very few if any stretch marks.

Tell your daughter to keep as active as possible. Yoga and exercise such as long walks keep your circulation healthy.

And I know this sounds crazy but I craved and ate a lot of healthy fats like avocado, olive oil, walnuts.

Lotions don’t work, don’t waste your money. Go for health from the inside out.

But remember like the above poster states so eloquently..stretch marks are not so horrible. They should be called BEAUTY marks instead of STRETCH marks.

Those two little ones are worth it!! Congrats!

I too had twins but 7 years later, my tummy still doesn’t look like yours! It may have to do with how big I got (one had very high amniotic fluid): at 26 weeks, I barely fit into my maternity clothes!

I know how you feel. I thought I was going to get away without having one stretch mark and at 38 weeks I suddenly had a belly and lower back full of them!
I’m positive yours will fade. Mine started out about the color of yours and now they are maybe 1-2 shades lighter then my skin.

Keep your head up, you look wonderful babe!

I SO know how you feel, emotionally. I grew very rapidly as a teen from 5’4″ to 6′ tall and got stretch marks on my hips, lower back, and inner and front thighs… Mine are worse than yours from adolescence. I’m currently 26 weeks pregnant and I haven’t developed any new ones. I’m panicked about getting marks on my tummy because I feel like its the only nice skin in my midsection… It took me 15 years to get “used to” (but not really accept” the ones I already have. Looking at you, you truly do look soooo good. I can barely see your marks and I can’t believe how tiny you are after twins in only 5 weeks. Amazing, tones, beautiful skin and shape. You look fantastic.
