My first post to Shape of a Mother is here. Now, three months later, and another chapter has been written, blotted, and dried, I have marked myself lovely.
I had been planning for a very long time to get a tattoo. This Saturday, my husband and I got me inked at last. The first three photos are of my ‘new body’ at 10 months postpartum after my 5th child (three singletons and a set of twins). The last photo is of my tattoo. The Hebrew in the center is “My Beloved” – which is symbolic of three things: it is one of the names of God – as He made me ‘fearfully and wonderfully, My husband is my lover, my beloved, and finally, my body. I truly am in love with the skin I am in. And it is high time too!
Just so that you know – the Hebrew on your back, “gili”, actually means “my joy”.
The first letter (furthest on the right) on your back is a gimmel – which looks somewhat similar to the first letter of the hebrew word for “my beloved” (dodi), but not quite.
Wow. your like my Mum, slipped though 5 pregnancies and not a single stretch mark, and anyone would have thought id’e be the same!, i got them with my first and only ! Its amazing how after twins and 3 single babies you skin has stretched so well. Congratulations I got to say- im jealous of your beautiful unmarked stomach. Although i kind of think that your unlucky in some ways because (from this point of view) i Cannot see any markings other than your tattoo, Of how much work your body went through to create your 5 wonderful children. Personally i think your amazing. Your pregnancy photos are very beautiful. But I Love the skin im in too- Even with my Lovely stretchmarks.
wow you look amazing!
Actually, I had my tattoo created by a Hebrew professor of linguistics and he said that this is the proper formatting for the term “My Beloved”. Thanks anyways!!!
Megan, don’t you worry ;o) I have stretch marks.. they are cleverly hidden under my underwear line and on the under sides of my breasts! :oD
Wow! You look amazing! I always wanted to be one of those women who got to “snap back” after having babies (who doesn’t)…but alas, I was not. My body did OK after giving birth to three kiddos, but nothing like you. Twins? Really?? If you really do have “cleverly hidden” stretch marks under those tiny panties I’d say you are more than lucky!
Congrats on five beautiful babies! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your tattoo also. Oh, and if you say it says “My Beloved” I’ll believe you ;-)
Your body is very beautiful! And you have nice boobs! I hope mine are as symmetrical as yours when I am done breastfeeding:)
The Hebrew for “beloved” would be transliterated as “dodi”… in Hebrew letters it would be spelled (from right to left) dalet, vav, dalet, yod.
YOUR BOOBS ARE GREAT!
