I have MAJOR stretch marks, and only gained 12 lbs with my pregnancy. I tried a few creams, but they came anyways. I think some people are just more likely to get them than others, and they aren’t so bad. :). HTH.

    Yep. That would be me.

Third trimester, eight months pregnant – meager 15 pound weight gain, with oodles of stretch marks that have been totally and completely immune to all creams and lotions marketed to target this.

    Why do you ask?

    I hope this isn’t a solicitation post.

I am not buying another cream or lotion for this as I have already purchased several. They seem to help with the itchiness though.

Right now the stretch marks all seem to be bellow my belly button and I can’t see them without a mirror – so I’m just ignoring them for now. One day they will turn silver and slowly fade.

It’s a small price to pay.

Lots of women, of all shapes and sizes have them – if you are one of us, you are definitely, without a doubt, not alone.

Yes and Yes. Stretch marks are largely genetic. I used this great, expensive oil religously and it kept my skin nice and pliable. I think it helped as I didn’t get any stretchmarks on my belly until the last month, but I still got them. (Which is not suprising since I also got them on my breasts and thighs during puberty.) Oh and my grand total of weight gain was only 14 pounds. : )

I had a twin pregnancy. (First time mom) Although I was/ am heavy to begin with, I have massive purple stretch marks all over my abdomin, up to my underarms, that actually wrap around to my back. I did use the palmer’s cream, however I felt that it didn’t help. My skin was stretched very tight over my twin sons. I gained a total of 25 lbs with the pregnancy.

I was fine up until my 7th month when it seemed that I just ballooned out. I am covered, belly, hips, thighs, butt and calves with stretch marks. Unfortunately I didn’t do anything prior to them, such as lotions and stuff, but afterwards I went on a rampage trying to find a cure.

Just found out that I am possibly caring baby #2, so right now I’m lathering myself in 100% PURE coconut oil and lavender oil, just precaution.

For the record though, my mom, grandmother and aunt have 0 stretchmarks, so I must have got my bad genes from my dad’s side of the family…lol

I gained the recommended amount of weight (30 lbs), lathered by belly with cocoa butter and did not get a single stretch mark on it.

HOWEVER, I suffer from terrible, deep, red stretch marks on my thighs for unknown reasons (hormones, vitamin deficiency, weak skin in that area – who knows). I recently started using a cream called Trilastin SR on them and they have improved greatly. It’s expensive but worth it IMO because I have tried everything else out there and nothing else worked.

I am an esthetician and one of the first things we learn in school is nothing you can do can prevent stretchmarks! No cream or oil in the world or how much weight you gain will affect getting them. Stretchmarks happen deep in the epidermis, not the top layers that you lather with oil. The main things are genetics, so don’t beat yourself up over not putting (or putting a lot of)lotion on.
Wear your stretchmarks with pride! A lot of women don’t get to have children!

I gained 30 pounds and have a lot of stretch marks on my lower belly. I have friends who gained 50 pounds or more and have none or very few stretch marks. I think it’s mostly genetics. Also, I barely showed for the first seven months and then all of a sudden was huge. Some of my friends who gained more weight than I did gained it very gradually. I think that might be a factor as well, but that’s not something we have a lot of control over either.

My sister-in-law who worked for a French cosmetics company gave me some fancy gel. It felt great and helped the itching, but it didn’t do anything for the stretch marks. They’re fading now, and thanks to this site, I’ve learned to live with them.

yeah, i don’t think it has anything to do with how much weight you gain. I gained 30lbs (120 – 130), and I didn’t get a single stretch mark on my belly. However, I did get them on my thighs (which didn’t actually grow that much) and a lot on my boobs. They’ve faded now though, and I don’t mind them.
