I am so saddened by the story of Lily. I have read the bits and pieces, and as a worried mom I have a question. What kind of warning signs are there? What steps can be taken to save other families from suffering? I am sorry if this is a stupid question.
As scary as it is, there weren’t any warning signs. She never should’ve gotten this sick. She wasn’t at risk more so than any other baby. She wasn’t premature or low birth weight. She just had a sniffly nose and a slight cough. Even if she had been taken to the Dr, there’s nothing they could’ve done. She wasn’t dehydrated and she wasn’t running a fever.
The scary things is that sometimes things just happen, and all we can do is deal with them the best we know how. And, most importantly, we can help others who are facing things we can’t even imagine.

I just really don’t know. Maybe you could Google it?

Unfortunately, there’s nothing we could’ve done.
