it makes me cry. i love the sight of little babies gazing up with those newborn eyes as they nurse with trust & gratitude for the 1st time. i can only imagine the love in mama’s eyes as she gazes right back at her precious gems. good job, mama!

Do you have multiples? If so and you are breastfeeding good for you. I have twins and am not breastfeeding, not by choice,but because they do not want to nurse. So, maybe next time you might want to watch what you say, because you do not know everyones situation….breastfeeding is not an easy thing to do and you have offended me!

—I really don’t think that she was trying to talk down about women who are unable to breastfeed b/c of physical/mental issues or b/c the babies just won’t nurse. She said that she wished more people would *try*, and obviously you did. I think she was just expressing concern that a lot of women don’t try breastfeeding at all, maybe b/c they think it’s too difficult/inconvenient/gross/weird/whatever, or b/c they think formula is somehow better, or b/c it’s just the way that their parents did it. I’m not saying that breastfeeding is easy or that everyone can do it. But I think everyone should try it at least once to see if it works and if it’s right for them.

My twins were born 7 wks premature. We did not get the chance to immediaetly start to nurse. They were in the NICU for 5 wks and my time to be with them and to nurse was limited and awkward. When we were all home we had the oppurtunity to tandem nurse. Wow, amazing experience.
Once again so beautiful and so lucky.

This photo gives me so much hope! I’m pregnant with twins and I’m totally shocked at how unsupportive of breastfeeding people have been. I know a lot of moms have trouble with it, but it’s worth a shot! Congratulations on two beautiful babies.
i am currently pregnant with fraternal twins as well ( i see one of your babies is blue and the other pink =) ) i am very excited to know that breastfeeding is still an option with multiple birth and shouldn’t be given up on. i actually just stopped breastfeeding my son ( being pregnant and breastfeeding was just strange for me) at almost 2….so i am looking forward to starting again with 2 babies this time. congratulations on your little miracles….and good luck!!!

I am a birth doula and recently helped a mother of two birth her babies. One of my most moving moments in my 7 years of doula-ing was when i brought her first born baby to her, while her second born twin was beginning to find the breast on her own. She finally had both babies on her skin, both looking for the breast on their own. i cried, sobbed, thought it was the most beautiful thing ever.
Wonderful! You should be very proud of yourself and your sweet babies! My twins did not nurse well, (they were in the NICU for 2 weeks)so I pumped for 6 weeks… how I wish I could have nursed them. What a wonderful bonding time! Kudos to you!
I have been browsing through this site and really love it! I was not expecting to feel so emotional about a picture though. I immediately started crying. This was my favorite moment after having my twins. It was magical. It was just like that but I have no pictures to remember it by. I am so happy you posted this. My mind has been flooded with wonderful memories. My girls are now 17 months old. Time flies.
