I Love Being a Mommy, But I Hate My Body (Anonymous)

im a 21 year old mommy to my almost 2 month beautiful baby girl. My fiance and i are thrilled to have her in our lives, though i do not feel at all physically attractive. i was 150 before i got pregnant at 5”6 and though i needed to lose weight, little did i know i was pregnant and would be gaining 60+ lbs over the next 9 months. i also got a lot of stretchmarks, although they didn’t show up till my last month of being pregnant! i was so close! i ended up being two weeks overdue so when she was born she was almost 9 lbs! no wonder i stretched out so much lol.i had to be on bedrest for two months and didn’t get much excersize to do cramping and spotting. at the end of my pregnancy i weighed 216 and now weigh 180, im hoping to get back down to 150 or even less would be nice.i am breastfeeding and i hear that helps, but im not patient at all when it comes to this…i also started working out and tanning last week so i hope it pays off. this is such a great and supportive website to dedicate to women who are all struggling with the same things, and its great to know im not alone. feel free to leave comments or give feedback. congrats to all the mommies and thanx for reading!

the after pics are 6 weeks month post partum and the preggo pics are at about 8 months. my daughters name is chloe and shes 5 weeks in the pic.

I know exactly how you feel sweetheart. I am 27 years old and my boobs were my best asset before I had my little boy Harry. One is now bigger than the other and they both have saggy skin on them. My partner still loves them though and hey, the don’t lok too bad in a push up bra :) I don’t think anyone can really prepare you for how much your body changes after you have given birth. I can honestly say though, it is VERY early days for you yet. It will never be the same as it was but it does improve hun. You have to give it time to go back…its been stretched to the max carrying your bubs and that was over 9 months so you need to at least give it the same amount of time. I am just about to start ttc no. 2 and I now wear my stretchmarks with pride. Think of them as war wounds…you survived the most traumatic and life changing event. You should proud of yourself as I am sure everyone else is. :)

Wow you are so beautiful! I know it sucks with the whole weight gain thing but give it time. And I think the breastfeeding will help a lot!! I delivered 3 weeks ago and it’s helping tremendously.

You have such a beautiful belly and baby. Your belly is not anywhere near done going down at 6wks. I wasn’t happy with my belly at 6wks either but at 9 months I am almost back to normal. Not everyone can bounce back like the stars, we don’t have personal trainers and cooks. You look great and keep up the breastfeeding, it does help.

I don’t think your stretch marks are that bad at all!!! Once you work out and get down to your ideal weight you won’t even know you had a baby! Keep working hard, it will pay off :)

First of all, you have a NEWBORN. Don’t worry about little things yet. And yes, breastfeeding helps tremendously to shrink your post-baby uterus and burn extra calories. But, like I said, you have a newborn right now. Your body isn’t even close to fully healing yet. I read somewhere that it takes 2-3 years for that to occur. It has taken me 2 years to lose all of my weight and get back into my jeans. You have time, sweetie. Don’t you forget it. You are more than attractive, you are a beautiful woman who has borne a child into this world. That’s no small undertaking!

I’m pregnant right now with my second – and what drew me to comment on your post/photos is our similar height/weight. I’m 5’7″ and started a bit higher than you 160, and was around 220 when I had my daughter.
I’m fortunate that although I have stretch marks they never really “showed” (were light/silvery). I did definitely have a “pooch” that remained 6 months after delivery. It felt weird since although I was overweight I have always had a flat belly. I didn’t really work on it until my daughter was ~2 years old when I went back to the gym a few times a week.
As other said, focus on your newborn and your new role right now. Although to help you with that I recommend eating good foods (and enough food/liquids if you are breastfeeding), and trying to get outside everyday (or at least out of your home) for a walk or just to be out!
I’m actually pregnant with my 2nd right now (5 months) and I’m eating healthy but trying not to indulge my sweet tooth too much just because I’m pregnant =).

I have a 7 month old daught, Im 22 yrs old. And yes, I understand completely how you feel. Summer is coming, and Its not easy thinking about how you were before you were pregnant, and how your body changes after. But your not the only one out there. But you do have to give it plenty of time to start to go back the way you are. It does take some effort on your part too, unfortunately, I haven’t done a tremendous amount of time working out. But you have to put your mind to it, and focus on your goals. When the baby is sleeping, or taking her nap, do a couple of crunches. Little by Little, it should change, but as for the stretch marks. I have them too, I want to get them removed, but my fiance says he likes me the way I am, and I dont need to do it for anyone else. But I want to do it for myself. I wish you luck with your new family.

Congratulations on your sweet little blessing!

I looked a lot like you do right after I had my son. I’m 5’7 and got up to 210 lbs when pregnant. He is 9 months old now, and I’m back to 150 lbs. I still have the poochy skin, but it’s all smaller… like a Shrinky Dink if you remember those. :p

I did want to comment on your plan to go tanning. Please tell me you’re going to get a spray tan and not use a tanning bed? My mother has a scar across her back and shoulders from skin cancer thanks to her tanning habits as a teen. It isn’t pretty. Her scar is my reminder that health is more important than vanity.

I have 2 children, I weigh 106 and am physically fit however I cry every single morning when I shower due to my body. I am small but I have loose stretched skin on my stomach that will forever be there. I don’t care about my stretch marks but how do you make excess saggy skin tuck in clothes nicely? Not to mention I am now a deflated saggy AA cup and even push up bras have a gap still left because I have nothing to push up.

It’s embarassing. It’s killing my self esteem. Someday I hope to have cosmetic surgery to boost my self esteeem. Be lucky you are not as tiny as I am cause when you’re my size, every notices not to mention, they usually point it out to me like “Wow, you’re so tiny but your stomach is still big.” I want to yank up my shirt showing my flat stomach covered in a mess of saggy loose skin. :-(

    Sincerely yours,
    always depressed.

I know exactly how you feel. My skin as well i stretched so bad, i cannot even wear jeans correctly, and when i lose weight, more skin just catches at my waist. I wear size 16’s, falling off my rear end, but cutting on circulation in my stomach because of the excess skin. I’ve seen numerous surgeons to get a rate on a tummy tuck. They have priced me at 6900, and that is includeing the hospital fees also. I’ve been waiting seven years and i hope to get mine done soon. My heart goes out to you who feel depressed. I know what it is like to not feel sexy or have difficulty bending over because your jeans are so stretched full with excess skin, it kills ya to. Every woman should be allowed one tummy tuck in their lives for free after having children. Maybe Obama could work on that issue.
