No bikini for me… (MotherOfOne)

May 16, 2012

This site is so wonderful! A big thanks to the creator.. These stories have made me feel a lot better about my situation.. Knowing I’m not alone.
These photos are 11 months postpartum. I got pregnant with my first, a beautiful baby boy, at age 21. Being young, I assumed my body would bounce right back to it’s 105-110lb. figure with no effort on my part. I gained 40lbs. during my pregnancy and now, 11 months later — I am still about 10lbs. over my ideal weight and struggling with this and the belly flab/stretch marks. I am still breast feeding and plan to AT LEAST for another month. I got complimented in the first few months postpartum on how my tummy went flat so quickly–but to me it still wasn’t as it should be. These last 10lbs. I can’t seem to shake off… Any one think it may be from breast feeding? Will it be easier to lose once I wean??
Summer is approaching and I cannot see myself flaunting a bikini at the beach this year… Or ever again for that matter….

I don’t see a reason why you couldn’t wear a bikini. You look fine.

Okay… I am a mother of 1 girl 18 months old and am 6 1/2 months prego with number 2. I have the saggy baggy belly and stretch marks galore! Looking at your pictures I am JEALOUS!! I say FLAUNT THAT BIKINI. You are only 11 months post partum. Still breast feeding so your body will hold on to those few extra pounds until you wean (experts are still trying to wrap their heads around why, but this is common in breast feeding moms – there are so many different ideas but none that I have found that I can quote as being the “answer”). Once you wean, and do some ongoing exercise, your tummy will be almost as it was before. Your body is beautiful. Get that bikini out this summer without any shame!

It might be easier to get rid of the last 10 lbs after you wean, every women is different so it just depends. But I say rock that bikini, you look awesome!!!

I’m 22, and a mother of one and we have the same exact tummy!! Although your boobs are much bigger than mine, you lucky girl!! I’ve been going through the same dilemma.. I feel like I’m young and pretty small like you, therefore we’re kinda expected to wear a bikini. I went and bought my first one-piece about a month ago and I actually LOVE it. It has a vintage/classy/sexy look to it. I think you would look beautiful in a two-piece. It was more of a comfort thing for me plus I was worried about having to chase after a 16 month old in a two-piece lol. Do what your heart desires. You’re beautiful.

I think you look great, but those last couple of pounds can make a difference too. I shed my last 10 pounds 18 months postpartumn, after I really started weaning my daughter. When I got preggo with my second, I was about 15 pounds under my pre-preg weight, now I am 25 weeks an steadily gaining again :(

OK momma… I am 22 years old, 6 months postpartum, and 80 pounds heavier than when I became pregnant… I would give anything to look the way you do!!!! I would go out and find the smallest bikini I could get my hands on!

Wow – You could totally wear a bikini!!! I’m a size 8, with no boobs and no curves! And I’d totally be sitting at the beach envying your body. I couldn’t believe those photos go with that title!!!!

I retained the last 5 kg / 9 lbs on me until by both babies weaned and lost it without any trouble afterwards. Your body may be holding an ‘iron reserve’ so that your milk supply does not run dry.
BTW, you look great and I would surely wear a bikini if I were you!
