It’s Hard Not to Notice the Changes (Mary, Mother of Samson)

age: 22
Pregnancies:1 Births :1
My Son Samson is 7 months old
Delivered C-Section

First of all I love being a mother and would not change it for the world! My son is a blessing and I take these scars with pride…most days.

Samson was 9lbs 5 oz when delivered, and I am 5 2′. My stomach was stretched to capacity come time to deliver.

Prior to pregnancy I was 130 lbs. Tiny thing ..I loved trying clothes on and fitting anything I wanted. It is harder now with all the extra skin around my core. I gained 35 lbs with pregnancy. I get unmotivated at times to exercise. I am currently 156 lbs. I miss my old body…it will take work to get it back. I know the stretch marks will take years.

I know how it is being short! I am also 5’2″, I was about 110 when I got pregnant with my first, and I ended the pregnancy around 155! I was 130 when I got pregnant with my 2nd, and I ended that pregnancy at 180! I am now 4 years pp with my 1st and 18 months pp with my 2nd and I weigh 120-125. I have had 2 cesareans, and do not look the same at all!!!! But you are right, our babies are so worth it :) The stretchmarks will fade a lot, and you look great! I also have a small cesarean “shelf”! Such is the life of a short mama :) You really do look great, so keep up the happy outlook on life :)

I think you look great for 7 months pp without even considering the fact that you had a HUGE baby (especially for your size) and a c-section! I don’t even see a scar! Skin tightens and firms and stretch marks fade. I bet you’ll be looking and feeling more like your old self in about 5 months. At least you don’t have linea negra. Wow I can’t imagine! I’m 5’4 and I’m scared about a 7lb baby. You are super woman!

Your beautiful! I can not believe your baby boy was over 9lbs, go mama! I had the same looking stretch marks after my first and they fade a lot it just takes time, also your skin will slowly shrink up. I am 18 months pp with my second and my skin is still getting better and better :) Congratulations on your amazing baby!

My first baby boy was a chunker too, he weighed 9lb 8 oz and gave me all the stretchies I have today! That was 8 years ago and my stretchmarks are barely noticeable now. After I had my bubba (who happens to be the SKINNIEST kid… go figure! lol) I would exfoliate my tummy to get my stretchies angry and then apply mederma or vitamin E oil depending on what I could afford at the moment. I’m not sure if that or time or a combo of both helped but I would say after about 2 yrs pp they were so much lighter and less deep. I think you are beautiful and I love love LOVE the last pic of you and Samson (great name too!) I would encourage you to just focus on your baby boy and enjoy this time with him as much as possible cause it really does go by too fast! Everthing else will fall into place. If its hard for you to find the motivation to exercise, try and make it as fun as possible! :)Dancing with baby is fun and he will LOVE it! Put on some good tunes and have fun lifting him out and up. I call it the baby bench press. LOL! Be patient with your body and just remember how it created the most mazing little life in the world when you have down days. :) Big Hugs

My advice, just keep applying moisturizer or better yet body butter. They work and soon you’ll notice things getting smaller and tighter ;)

Finally I found my belly twin! I am also 5’2 and have always figured that my short stature and the way I carried contributed a great deal to how my belly fared. My daughter was relatively small, weighing in at 7lbs, but even so I was left with the sagging skin and stretchmarks. For what it’s worth I think you look great, especially at only 7 months pp. The stretchmarks definitely do fade in time as well. Good work birthing such a healthy and handsome baby!

hi mary – just want you to know i’m in the exact same boat as you… i’m 5’1″ (well, 5’1.5″ actually – haha…) and i weigh 152 right now. i was 142 pre-preg and wanted to lose a few lbs before i got pregnant, but never did… i gained 47 (ended the pregnancy at 189!) and have lost all but those last 10. my daughter was 22 inches and 8 lbs 9 oz, so my belly was also stretched to capacity. they say second babies are even bigger – that scares the CRAP out of me. LOL. im not sure if i will ever see 135 again on the scale, but i hope so. until then, im just going to dress my new body the best way i know how – lots of cardigans and wedge heels! :)

i think you’re gorgeous! i think this website is great for women like us – we’ve still “got it” we just need to wake up and realize it!

Two thumbs up for all the short mamas! I also am petite and had never had an issue with weight until my daughter was born 7 months ago. Although I had a small baby and a c-section I somehow dodged the bullet on the belly stretch marks, but my boobs, hips, and butt didn’t fare so well. Gives a lot of hope and encouragement that other moms have the same issues, and is a reminder of the very worthwhile sacrifice we make for our beautiful babies.

I promise, with time your skin will shrink up. It takes time, but don’t worry. There is a light at the end of the tunnel.

YOU ARE AN AMAZING AND BEAUTIFUL WOMAN.
