Hopeful (Tati)

May 27, 2009

Hi! I’ve been coming on this site since I was 3 months pregnant and I absolutely love it.

Now finally… I’m actually posting something. Ha!

The first time I got pregnant was at 21 years old. I found out with in a week of being pregnant that I was…well knocked up! Haha although it was a totally “OOPS!” my boyfriend and I were super excited and told everyone. 4 weeks later I had a miscarriage. I was devastated. After the miscarriage I wanted to try for another baby but my boyfriend send no and he wanted to wait. Which at the time felt like a slap in the face, but after a few drama filled months of almost breaking up I started to feel ok with waiting or possibly never having children.

During this time I weighed around 145-150. After the miscarriage I went up to about 160. Freaked out because I’ve had issues with my weight for years. I moved to the south when I was 18 and gained 50 lbs! I lost 40 when I moved back to the west coast 2 years later. Point is… I struggled badly with body image. So when I went up to 160 I realized I needed to start working at getting the weight off or it would get out of control quickly. I lost 10 lbs in a month, but didn’t stick with it and the following month gained 5 lbs back. This was October ’07.

I went on birth control after my miscarriage, but got off after about a month because it caused me to have extreme mood swings and things got a little crazy. After being off birth control for 2 weeks I went back to the doctors and asked if I could be put on a different kind of birth control and explained how meds tend to make my loopy. She gave me a new kind (I forget which kind) and told me to start taking them after I get my period. I have a very regular schedule so I checked my calendar and made a mental note that the red flow should arrive around the 16th. Well as you might have guessed the 16th came and went. At the time my boobs were killing me (total denial!) but I thought I was only a couple of days late so no big deal… right? Hahaha WRONG! I miss calculated and I was actually over a week later. I took a test and bingo PREGNANT! :-P It seemed like the worst thing to happen at that time with all the drama going on around me, but in reality it was the best possible thing to happen. I was beyond happy!

Probably a little too happy because in 9-10 months I went from 155 to 235! I gained 80lbs! I pretty much went on a milk and cookies diet. :-) I ended up with stretch marks from my belly button down to my calves. I love my daughter (Lucy). She is wonderful, but she stole all my pretty! Haha

I have worked hard and I have lost all my baby weight and am 7 lbs under my pre-pregnancy weight. The stretch marks I can handle, but the loose skin makes my sick to my stomach whenever I look in the mirror or catch a glimpse of it during intimate moments… eww! However, in 9 months I have seen tremendous progress with my body so I am forever hopeful that in the next year to 2 years I’ll have a semi normal body back. :-) Or at least one I’m not ashamed of or maybe by then I’ll come to accept what I’ve got. Who knows. I’ll keep you posted!

Age: 23
Number of Pregnancy: 2, 1 birth (all natural! :-P )
Lucy is 9 months old.

The first set of photos is the month I became pregnant with Lucy at 155 lbs. Second set are 6 weeks post partum at 196 lbs. Third set are my most current photos at 8 months post partum and 148 lbs. I will update after Lucy’s 1 year birthday. I hope to be in the 130s by then (139.9 totally counts!). (Don’t mind the black dots…. Covering up tattoos. I’m not ready to come all the way out yet.)

Updated here.

Thank you for the support! I’ve worked really hard for what I have now. I’m still going. The loose skin really bothers me but I’m working on my patience and not just wining about it but actually trying to making it better by eating healthy and exercising.

    Thank you all!

As far as exercise goes… I was doing cardio and strength training. Mixing it up with different routines. I haven’t been working out as much lately and I can totally see a difference… need to go to the gym pronto! :-P
