Four Months After #2 (Sarah)

January 19, 2011

Age: 28
Four months post-partum

This is my third submission. My first two can be found here and here.

It’s now four months after I gave birth to my second wonderful child, but unfortunately I feel like I still look the same as I looked just a couple weeks after giving birth. With my first, my body went back to normal very quickly. I thought that was going to be the case with this one too, especially after the first few weeks when things started going back to normal. But now it’s been months and I haven’t seen much improvement. I work out almost everyday, but I just can’t seem to get rid of my tummy. My boobs are still nice and full from nursing, but they seem to be getting saggier and saggier. I have a few stretch marks which just aren’t going away.

I’m hoping that things will start improving soon, but I’m really worried that I’m not going to get my body back after #2 like I got it back after #1.

Your body looks curvy, sexy and normal. I’ve had two kids and am three months postpartum with a tummy that sticks out a little too.

I bought this book called the Tupler technique to help me strengthen the transabdominal muscle. Sometimes you can have a diastasis after giving birth, a separation of the right and left abdominal muscles. The transabdominal muscle pulls the abdomen together. The exercises involve a lot of sucking in your stomach to strengthen that muscle and prepare your body for core abdominal work such as situps.

As for saggy breasts, my motto is start small and they won’t look too saggy after you’re done breastfeeding. Sometimes I wear bras with a little padding to make myself look like a full B cup. There is something to be said about just being confident and playing up your best features.

It’s funny how we can be our own worst critics. You have a beautiful body, it’s something to celebrate. Congratulations on the birth of your second little one.

I don’t see that you have a tummy as in extra skin or wrinkles, I think it’s just a bit of muscle separation.

It will get better as the months go by. I had really bad muscle separation and it’s still changing and getting better 14 months later. I ended up with tons of wrinkles and a nice roll of fat on top of my c-section scar, so be thankful that you look the way you do.

Your skin is flawless and your belly button hasn’t disappeared in a sea of wrinkles, I’m jealous. Plus you have lovely breasts and a nice ass too.:)
