The first picture is one week before I delivered my daughter Kaia. I am 21 and she was my first pregnancy that lasted beyond the first trimester. She was born at home 8 August 2007 after 29 hours of labor and I would not have done it any other way. The next photos are my belly one, two and three weeks postpartum. During my pregnancy I was very careful about what I ate (I tracked every morsel on sparkpeople.com) but still managed to gain 48 pounds during my pregnancy. 13 pounds in the last two weeks alone – which I think must have been water weight because by two weeks postpartum I had lost 30 of the 48 pounds. I have to say, I have not been as horrified by the changes as I thought I would be, even the dreaded stretch marks aren’t bumming me out like I thought they would.

Your stretch marks are beautiful. What an amazing design and physical memory of the power of birth.
