Doing it on my own (Rebecca)

November 28, 2007

Hi my name is rebecca, Im 20 years old and married to a wonderful man. He has been through my whole pregnancy till just recently he had to leave to goover seas. I am * months Pregnant. This is suppose to be the best time of our lives and He has to miss it. I just thought i would say going through this alone is going to be hard, but i think knowing that he wont see his newborn baby girl be born has to be the hardest. I will be full term in 4 weeks and she will come at anytime. After she is born i have 6 months to be a single mom. The first time he gets to see her she will be 5-6 months old. Enough about that! About my body This pregnancy has NOT been a nice one. Yes it’s my first and i have had friends go through this and i was there with all of them but Im the only one to get morning sickness, stretchmarks, Acne pretty much everything! Do stretch marks fade? I dont think so but i say there my battle scares… Ill wear them with pride!

Stretch marks fade, but do not disappear. They’ll turn white or silver in about a year. You look lovely! Bless your family. May you have a blessed and safe delivery.

Doing it alone isn’t easy. If you’d like someone to stay with you during your labor and advocate for you, encourage you, etc., check out http://www.operationspecialdelivery.com/

They offer doulas at little or no charge for military members and spouses. They may have some postpartum doulas, but I am not entirely sure.

My second certification client was a situation like this, and her baby was born 2 days before her husband had to leave! Being a military spouse is hard enough, let alone a new baby in the mix. Don’t be afraid to use your resources!

my heart goes out to you. Good thing time goes by fast when you have a new one. Make sure you surround yourself with loving people to help you get over those post pregnancy hormones.

I’ve never posted here before, but after reading your story I had to. I had my 2nd son (1st with my husband) while he was on active duty as well. He saw him for a brief weekend when he was about 2 weeks old then not again until he was nearly 5 months old. It is hard, I won’t lie (I did it with a newborn and a 4 year old and I’m still here so you can do it too!) Just hang in there, be thankful for the friends and family that can help you out and don’t stress. I stresses and was miserable being without my husband and look back on that time now wishing I had been happier for the things I did have. Anyway, the stretchmarks will fade, given time, and you’ll be a great mommy. Hang in there!
