Comfortable in my skin (Southern Mama)

Im a 29 yr old mother of a 2 yr old and a 10 month old. I gained 50 lbs with my first baby who was 9 lbs. With my second baby I gained 70 lbs, geez, she was 8lbs 4oz. Both c-sections. I ate anything and everything in sight when I was pregnant with my babies. I was big, round, and jolly! Im pretty happy with my body. I did lose all the weight easily, but I still have some stretch marks which bother me alot. Mostly on one hip and some light ones on my stomach. Im still breastfeeding, so the breasts that I do have will be gone once I stop. I will miss having full breasts. Seeing all the beautiful pictures and reading all the courageous stories on this site makes me proud to be a mom!

Wow you look great. I gained 50lbs and ended up with loose skin and stretchmarks ear to ear. I lost all the weight but my body wont ever resemble its former self. Seeing you makes me feel good because it helps me take some of the blame off myself. Thanks you for posting. You look great!

Just wanted to say you look great! I have a 2 yr old and a 13 month old, gained 50 lbs each pregnancy as well. I was lucky to have been able to lose all the weight plus some, but my skin is very loose in the belly- mainly when I sit. May I ask how you were able to lose the weight and not get loose skin? I am 5’7 120 lbs and it’s just frustrating when my belly still sags a bit. May I ask how tall/weight you are as well, maybe that helps with the skin. :)

thanks ladies for the sweet comments!

    Melissa-
you know each time I gained all that weight a part of me felt guilty. But I truly believe your gonna gain whatever your body needs to sustain a pregnancy.

Tami- I am 5’6 and 120. When I stand it is tight, but when I sit my belly is loose/wrinkly too. I just suck it in and I dont look down at it much. lol. Ive always been active, but I started a gym (with a nursery) about a month ago. I lift weights or do aerobics about twice a week. But when I was about 4 mths postpartum with my 2nd baby I started doing pilates dvd’s at home. It really focuses on your core. It teaches you how to stabilize and hold your ab muscles. I think it helped shrink my skin down a little as well. Hope this helps! =)

southern mama, I am 22 and about to have my second child in 7 or 8 weeks repeat c-section. I gained about 50-55 with my first, and I have gained like 40 so far with this one. I got such bad stretch marks with Connor (my first), but I got a flat stomach for the most part after him (some loose skin). I am really worried about what my stomach will look like after this one. May I ask what you looked like right after (a few months after) your second? Looking at your pics gives me some hope…but I know I will have to work very hard…I just wonder what your stomach looked like a few months ago!

    to shannon-
the first 4 months I had what I called the “dunlap” (like the tires) belly. when i sat down it rolled over touching the other side. my body took longer to recover the 2nd time around vs. the 1st. I think that is true with most moms. my belly got a little more loose after both pregnancies. i wish i wouldve posted pregnancy & early postpartum pics to show you, but it did take a little longer. i know its hard to do cause I did worry too, but try not to and enjoy the rest of pregnancy!

Wow! You’re an inspiration! I too gained 70 lbs, I’ve only lost 30 of it so far… well that was all in the first week postpartum, I’m stuck at 165 now and I’m 16 weeks postpartum. But seeing your pics gives me hope! I never looked that good pre-baby, but I’m hoping with some effort I may actually look decent again! You’re amazing.

I actually have 2 scars from each pregnancy. They are intertwined. I scar pretty well, but also I used mederma. However, I do believe time is the best medicine. In a few months, Im sure your scar will be lighter =)
