4 Babies, 1 Tummy Tuck (Danielle)

Previous entries here and here.

One year and one day after having my forth baby, I had a tummy tuck. Now I’ve participated in the past at how this site has made me feel liberated from the tone of how mothers should look after having babies. Well like some moms here I did get back to pre pregnancy weight will all my pregnancies quickly. The only problem I had was I had to tuck my skin in my pants too. I had muscle separation too. So 2 weeks ago I underwent a tummy tuck. It wasn’t easy. Actually the recovery was and is harder for me than than the 3 c-sections. But now I have a tight tummy and I still have faint stretchmarks that fall just under my belly button instead of all around it. I’m happy that I didn’t loose all of my strechmarks especially those that I had from my stillborn baby girl. I’m happy with my decision. The pictures that I submit show how I looked before my tummy tuck and after. Now I’m still healing and the rash that you see on my hips is actually a reaction to the medical tape they used under the binding, apparently I was allergic to it and we did not know it. But in time the scars & redness will fade and it will look much better.

You look great! I have had 2 kids and got back to my pre-pregnancy weight within two months with the first and within one month with the second. I am currently saving to have a tummy tuck aswell, I just want to feel good in my clothes again! Im so glad you posted your story because it shows that doing something to make yourself feel better is not a crime, having babies changes us and there is nothing wrong with taking back some control of our bodies. Once again, you look fantastic and you will only look better and better as you heal!

Were you able to get this medically indicated at all? How much did it cost? I have had 5 kids and am pregnant with #6 and have had all csections. I would love to eventually get a tummy tuck, but don’t know how I would afford it.

Congratulations on a great result with the tummy tuck :) IMO it doesn’t make you any less of a mum to put yourself first and be more comfortable in your own skin, literally! :)

    To answer the questions above:
My Tummy tuck was not covered under insurance. The cost was approx $10,000. But I’m getting add’l bills in the mail because my surgery time exceeded what the dr estimated so its practically another $1,000. I’m almost 4 weeks now and it looks amazing. Thanks for the nice comments.

I really appreiciated your post I recently decided to undergo a tummy tuck and I felt like I was betraying other women by saying “this needs to be changed”. Its going to take me 2 years just to get a consult because of our medical system but its something I think is important. For Stacy the price of a tummy tuck depends on the area you live. http://www.makemeheal.com is a plastic surgery website that has a messag board. On there you’ll learn TONS of info about tummy tucks. I was told its $6000 for TT and anethesia ect and would not be medically covered.

I am a member of MMH! And its a great informative site! I had a consult in Ottawa Ontario (Canada) and with all the compression garments, anesthesia, revisions, MR and lipo to the flanks and back, my quote with tax was 8200$.

You look amazing! I am booked in 1 week to have a tummy tuck and to repair my muscle that has separated over an inch and a half from childbirth. I have three beautiful girls now that are 9, 12 and 13. I have been putting this off for many years because I have been afraid of surgery. My health is not that great and I have had a surgery almost every year for 10 years. I’m very nervous but excited at the same time. Good luck to everyone!
